I was thinking of a way that would actually make it a bit easier to construct the guides and to be more conducive to reading and formulating strategies. It is somewhat similar to a mix between the current system and Baron's old Klingon guide. Please let me know what you think, and tell me if I am missing anything, or what I should change :) .

Basically it would start with a list of all the military units and relevant military structures and a description of how to use their special abilities, what vessels they work well with, what vessels they work well against, and how they should be used. This section would discuss both avatar vessels in one section, and have links to the appropriate unit overview.

The second part would include build orders, with minimal discussion of what the units abilities are and why they are combined with other units (as that would have already been talked about), but still discussing how to use the units most effectively against a particular faction at a particular point in the game. To that end, the early/mid/late game structure of the guide (along with “against a particular faction”) would be retained.

For example, the Remores abilities would be discussed in the first section, along with what it is powerful against, how it is a support vessel and cannot stand alone, and speed and range discussions (along with expense discussion – aka, you want to build dilithium heavy units while constructing this tritanium rich… llalala). The second section would discuss when you research the abilities, when to build the vessel in the build order and what vessels you will expect to face with it in the build order in question. Essentially that should allow people to understand what units do what and craft their own strategies much quicker, but it will also allow easy input of new build orders (and thus an easier understanding of what strategies can be available) because I won't have to describe every single little ability in depth - more just when to use them during the course of the game.

I think this would be a bit easier to craft than the current guide, and it would let me to update things much more rapidly because although the build orders change, the ship roles usually do not change too much. What do you think?

Agree 100% :)

By the way, any chance the links to "Early game (against Feds)" etc. at the top of the strategies, could stay on the page as you scroll down? Would make switching between sections quicker and easier.

I conncour One  could  put all the Support ships  in a  seperate  section or heading would make things to understand  for a new to FO Player. You  could have the "Stand alone "ships  and the  Support ships  for each of the races in  a  section describing  the capabilities and a lack there of for each of the ships .

I think you should consider video guides. its one thing to say something but then its a whole other thing to actually see it in action. I have learned much from watching guides on how to play other video games on the internet.

Aye, that's next on the list - I was hoping to be able to get into that more, but I think I will not have too much time to record games on a level that I would be satisfied until my finals are over  :sweatdrop: . If Zebh is able to accomplish certain things this weekend, I might already have a lot of work on my hands  ^-^

This should be possible, but it might be unnecessary with the next version of the guide - we'll definitely look into it though :)

I think I prefer keeping the vessels in the order that you can build them from each yard - you can use the current system (the sorting arrows located above each "category") to organize the vessels into most types of listing to satisfy the "support ships in their own heading" afterall, so your suggestion should already be implementable  :sweatdrop: . Support vessels should also already be discussed quite heavily in the appropriate areas of the strategy guide  ^-^
