you should have teched to vorchas before he got the mass of disrup rhienns. u stayed in kvorts for aaaaaaaaaaaaaages. he only went rhienns AFTER u went kvorts.
u had the advantage in resources, u just built more and more little kvorts, all of which were unranked and died real fast.
eventually u made the troopships lol. which was a good build, but too late.
if u went earlier vorchas u would have needed troopships either. as he wouldnt have got nearly as many ranked disrups.

Clintsat wrote:My problem was supply, I couldn't get enough to make up for my ship losses. I did a few all-in goes at Butter's mining and couldn't recover the losses. The staying power of the Disruptor R's sealed the deal. I hesitated against vorcha's because of the passive. In hindsight, it might have been the way to go.
Yep, part of the solution to limiting K'vort spam was to reduce the amount of supplies that K'vorts gain when they rank up. This means that if you spam K'vorts they are less likely to provide you with the supply you need

Vorcha have got to be the Klingon's best all around 2nd tier unit. I almost always advocate heading for them before your tier 1 units get countered too hard. Disruptor Rhienn's definitely have the advantage against any Klingon tier 1 units so you don't wanna wait too long against them nasty Rommies

Myles wrote:actually i tested fed intrep spam and warpins vs spec spam on fued (where the low speed wasn't crippling) and i didn't micro at my best, and still only lost 1 or 2 specs. i would decloak right on top of feds so got kills every single time. my mining got whacked by clever warpins, but it didn't matter as specs are so cheap. the fed fleet couldn't grow to a critical mass as i kept taking ships out each time. yet the spec swarm just grew and grew. the intreps taking reduced damage didn't matter as i could always kill at least 1. and lost ships myself rarely. if i had paid more attention to micro i could avoided any losses. combat cloak is just incredible. the problem isnt that the specs do too much, its that they dont die. ever. u cant rely on crippling the economy as they are so cheap. i guess u can choose a big map. and just avoid battling the specs, but they can cloak. and eventually they will come and find you, and decloak on top of you, and u wont get away in time. building any gens makes me feel dirty lol. roms can win without them.
I wouldn't doubt it. Early Warp-In is still a much weaker starting strategy than double yarding and should be countered by Spectre

When you assume a double yard, you take into consideration that Intrepids are 40 units faster, and they can easily take out miners when you have only 2-3 Intrepids. The strategy will also put you at 3:2 odds against those Spectre very quickly and eventually close to 2:1

Twas an awesome game to watch, if a little slow in places.
What amazed me most was that game lasted so long and yet the Rommies didn't even build their warbird staryard. It was really in the spirit of FleetOps, small fleets being tactically used.
I can't wait to see the next match between these two titans of FleetOps.

@funnystuff - near the start when commenting on avatars, you said butters always goes with Helev as Roms because (if i hear it correctly) butters has problems with the right avatars.
What did you mean?

I think he meant the avatars on the right, rather that suggesting that one avatar is correct and one is wrong.

The strategy will also put you at 3:2 odds against those Spectre very quickly and eventually close to 2:1. Unless those Spectre are going after Fed mining (which will eventually be protected by turrets), they shouldn't get any kills on the Intrepids, and vice versa. In that war it's not about trying to take out Spectre, it's about completely denying economy, as the Spectre just won't be able to kill Intrepids before they take out that Romulan mining, over, and over, and over. Eventually Feds will be able to expand to a third moon set and spam whatever they like while the Spectre will have to divide themselves to protect mining. Unless Spectre are being mixed, they'll only provide a soft counter. Every single game I've had with this combination (which is numerous) has turned out this way. Once the Warp-Ins comes combined with the Intrepid's Tricobalt, the Romulan base completely collapses if they continue to rely on the Spectre, especially if a Steamrunner should arrive (goodbye Tal'Shiar / Staryard).
ahhh but cloak when used properly can ensure a kill every time. unless they play very very cautiously and only ever go for 1 kill. which i have never seen. just decloak on top of them. and u can pop an intrep, gain some xp and a spec never dies. u can also get several specs early on, and send 1 or 2 out to harass, if u can micro away under cloak well. combat cloak means that getting pinged isnt as devestating, still risky though. on small maps the speed of the spec doesnt hurt as bad. but on big maps the intreps will probably keep specs running around, which would get annoying.
double yarding intreps would make it a very close fight, a testament to how strong both strats are.

That's still a little strange. So he has problems with Murjal, Risner, Optimize, Breen, and Martok but not with the ones on the left? (please excuse me if i have my left/rights mixed up for some of the races)
Maybe it was meant to be a humorous comment?

Perhaps so. The mystery grows.

I'm having problems splitting my replay down to Youtube-length clips. Any tips?

Normally I would just split in VirtualDub.

Butters has told me many times that he cant play the avatars on the right because for some reason he just could never get them to work. So he never choses Risner, Breen, Mijural, Martok, or Assimilate

Bah, how can you play Borg with 'Assimilate'? That's just unnatural.
