...how do you play the video? It keeps freezing about 5 seconds in, so only the sound works.

Damn video... have to skip some to see it.

i mean putting it 'at your enemy's base' close. ive never seen that offensive before.

its similar to the way the borg can place a dodeca relay at your base.

I did not make Star Traffic intending for the Dominion yard-rush strategy to be viable.  Star Traffic has and remains to be one of the most played 2 v 2 maps partly because of it's unusual setup, but unfortunately comes with this tactic inherent in it.  I cannot 'make' people play with sportsmanship in mind, nor can I tangibly prevent this strategy from happening through any device of the map.

I do hope that people choose to play 'fairly' on my maps and not exploit certain unforeseen opportunities in them.

Dominion have the ability to do this uniquely amongst the races due to their trademark ability to swap miners into builders.  I do hope that people remember that it's in very poor taste to yard-rush your neighbor on Star Traffic as Dominion.

Yes to hugs, no to Drugs!  :woot:

Hehe, actually I agree with you Boggz, I was just curious if it still works with the increased B-8 build time. But it's certainly not a dominion privilege, you can build a mayson phaser, or a regen relay (with rif rushing) and get the same effect on maps with so small rush distance. Yeah, probably the dominion gayness is the most spectecular though.
I think we just need to make an etiquette rule that you don't build anything in your opponents base or natural expansion in the first 5 minutes, and problem solved hehe. As long as you can't pull this out in a 1v1 it's not a game balancing issue...

well a crude way of stopping people from building stations in enemy bases would be to give starbases a super long range weapon that is so slow it can only target stations and covers the starting base and moons.

but then i like the idea of sneaking a dodeca into somebody's base.

Or maybe Romulan mining stations could be armed, since their miners are so damn weak.

they need to be easy to harass, since they can harass so well with superior cloak.

i think ciadans will be the sole race to have armed mining stations.

if you are referring to the crude idea, i called it crude for a reason. i mentioned it cos it reminds me of a level from star trek legacy, the station with the huge phaser that can only hit stationery targets

also i havnt played online for the past month or two due to having nearly no free time. before that i was online regularly. i hope to come online more again soon, its just i get home late so often now and i have to put assignments and coursework above video games.

Erm, but I think both things are a map issue combined with the fact that Dominion miners are interchangeable.

That would be a complicated fix.  On Duel II the issue isn't so bad anymore, but on Star Traffic I can't really do anything about proxy-yarding your opponent's mining.

Intrepids are indeed medium, that confuses a lot of people.

Despite the control issues plaguing both of us, I think my biggest fault was that I didn't switch up to E-2's once the Vorcha were dominating.  I kinda thought I could overwhelm him with the smaller and faster ships before he could get too many out, but I REALLY should have teched up faster.

E-2's and Intrepids would have been a GREAT combo against them Vorcha.  The Intrepids tank with their ADAI and the E2's blast them to Sto'vo'kor .

LOTS of fun to play though :D
