Can we at least decouple some balance improvements from the overall development?
Even it is just about changing numbers I would be happy since after a while ppl know the powerful strats and use them no matter what (Fedroll as an example).
Give us at least something so multiplayer get better in shorter periods - like increased/decreased cost or stats. Shouldn't be too difficult and this way you can test things and see how the outcome is. That is how Starcraft became balanced...not about calculating weired stuff in an office...maybe it works for FO as well.

Is the next releas just another patch, or is it its own major download? Also, when the faction redos are done, will they be released as patches or as their own download file? And I'm not sure if this is a right question to ask, but do you guys have any sort of time-table you expect the next patch to be released within? I'm not sure if this question has already been asked, because there's 61 pages to go through, but I don't need an answer if there isn't one to give.

There isn't a specific timetable, it's just released when they feel it's ready to be released.

this patch must be huge as there is not normaly this big gap between updates

It kinda depends, sometimes certain things require whole rewrites and effect everything. Other times its just new models tweaks and balance changes. This may well be an all new full install version coming. Especially with the Fed ship registrys/names and the borg redo - which will no doubt be huge. Having a 4 month break between patches isnt unusual.

I was thinking that too. Though, I thought the registry names were already included. That could warrant a full instell inofitself, and then you have, like you said, the Borg redo. I have no doubt that this next patch will be a full install, but I admit I'm getting a little tired of waiting for the next patch. That doesn't mean I'm complaining, because I am still waiting. I just might, y'know, metaphorically "fall asleep".

It think the common response is: when it is done.

exactly
we are working on a lot of stuff for the next patch. some of which require us to rewrite some things which means a intermediate release is not possible. work on the hull registry feature has been completed

Will this next patch change things to the point where 3.2.5 mods will no longer work correctly?
posted on August 24th, 2011, 9:57 am
depends on the complexity of the mods. required minimum AssetVersion will get a bump

A large portion of ODFs will change in the next patch, so compatibility, at least for ODFs, is rather unlikely

Ok, thank you both. I'm going to pause my current projects untill the new patch comes out and I can see all the improvements.  :)
