Will ships in the game be slowly replaced?

Ellipsoid shield bubble - More Power-effective.
Contour-conforming shield - More energy efficient.

The most likely difference between the two, and the E could probably use both.

I like Tyler's assessment.

On a side note for Dual layer shields does that mean there is a bubble and another layer closer to the hull? Or another generator that creates a new shield bubble when the first collapses? Always wondered  :sweatdrop:

I think it uses 2 layers together. Everytime I've seen a Descent hit, there was a second impact inside the first.

Maybe the direct-hull shielding is a function of the structural integrity field.  I see no reason why the computer couldn't detect an impact on the shields, and focus force fields on or around that specific area to minimize damage.
