Klingons capture? I thought they just blow up anything they see (including themselves).

aye, Klingons dont kling to much, the klingons in FO IMHO dont resemble the klinongs in the series. to much tech in there.

Actually, the Klingons are very likely to capture.  By boarding, of course.  I mean, what did they do to DS9 when they attacked?  Blew it up?  Not a chance.  They tried to take it over, and nearly succeeded.

Never saw much of Ds9 but now that i think of it more your right, in Hart OF Glory they did the same thing. seams that they would only take ships bigger then there though. now that would be a twist, a small kling ship with a holding beam and a brouding party.

Is there any way of having it so Starfleet are average at boarding, but above Average at defending?

no boarding party strength is a singular value, meaning the same value determines the strength for both boarding and defending.

Unfortunately.  Otherwise, I'd say tyler's idea would be an excellent one.
