Actually that's exactly what I proposed in another thread.
Here Where I suggested leaving the B'rel as-is but creating an Armory-based research that made it classed as a "scout" like the Probe so it's last on the targeting list. That way it could still be used without being a rediculous waste of 12 supply (18 if you use WF).
