i think the akira had also quite the hangerbay and was also used as a fighter like platform but i am not use, i've read it somewhere but i am not sure.

i think the akria class should be a later game hevy torpedo ship a little like the defiant is a late game heavy pulse phaser ship take the pdp off and put it on a ship with no weapons that is very expensive perhaps even costs credit (not Galaxy, it is way too powerful with the pdp too)

the nebula class could get it back.. would make sense as a refitted science ship, i think..

I think it would be cool to take off the Nebulas pulse phaser(uncanon) and make it so it can upgrade like the Rhien, you can give it either a Phaser pod(very canon) on top or a photon torpedo pod(very canon).

I like that idea but, I think Optec said only the rhein would have that, I also like the idea of the Akira carrying fighter and torpedoes, and mabey let the steamrunner take it's place with the phaser only, as the Steamrunner never seemed like the type to carry the Tri Cob anyway...

No of course they don't have tri cobalts but they DO have standard photons as seen in insurrection or generations or whatever has the borg.

EVERYTHING has torpedos to be perfectly canon, even the delta flyer/venture class has twin micro torpedo launchers, so that's besides the point. We're going for playability here, so why can't the steamrunner be analogous to say a rhienn phaser refit?

not sure really, I just don't like the steamrunner with the Tricob, never fit, then again neither did the Armada 1 torpedoe less akira

the nebula should have a sensor pod refit as well after all it is a science ship for that matter lets add the probe special weapons to it

Interestingly enough the Nebula is NOT a science ship, the only dedicated science ship I've heard of are the Novas (some VOY episodes, etc.) The Nebula is the most common battleship in Starfleet, along with Akiras making up the bulk of any warfleet. In peacetime it can be refitted with a science pod or medical evacuation pod, among other things. A Nebula with weapons pod would be a tough match for a Vorcha, for instance, and can easily take out dominion bugships in single combat.

Remember it is a cut-down galaxy, with reduced EPS capacity for phasers and fewer torpedo tubes (the two tubes on the spine have been deleted, along with the spine). Much cheaper and faster to produce than the Galaxies.

No the Nebula IS the dedicated science ship that us also used for fleet combat when refitted. Where did you hear it wasen't?

Try DITL. With a weapon complement like that you call it a science ship ???? Right. Reference "Oberth" and "Nova" to see what a science ship looks like.

It's classified as a heavy cruiser by DITL, but I think battlecruiser is more appropriate, since Akiras are really heavy cruisers and Intrepids are really closer to cruiser, steamrunner is light cruiser / destroyer, etc.

Haha, nice try. Firstly we all know the DITL is a bit off...although it does good on the nebula it still refers to it as a science ship, I quote:

"In service the Nebula class has proved highly satisfactory, and in many ways these ships form the backbone of Starfleets exploratory and scientific programmes."

Although thats not much at all, that just for starters. Secondly the Nebula is by no means heavily armed, only fielding forward torpedo tubes that are triple burst, that don't have the ability to fire 8. Secondly it has fewer Phasers, less powerful shields, hull, speed, etc...The few Nebula class ships that were upgraded were pretty powerful but still didn't have the speed, shielding or armor of the Galaxy.

In short, the standard nebula class is a force to be reckoned with but isn't what you make it out to be. The refitted one has more torpedos but thats it, it's still slower, less shielded, and all the rest. I found most of this from other sources as I refuse to believe they made so many refitted with weapons pods compared to the science pods, and other sources say only a few were upgraded.
