Warp coils work in pairs, not the Nacelles. The very site you used explains why the Galaxy-X works.

The 'All Good Things' Enterprise is explained not to violate these because it has two warp field coils in each nacelle, thus creating three pairs.

Since we don't know how warp coils work ny argument about them is pretty senseless. The only thig one can take for granted is that asymmetry causes problems, always.

What about that experimental Federation Faze-cloaked ship that was in one episode of DS9? :)

The only Phase Cloak equipt Starfleet ship I know of is the Pegasus, and that is from TNG. The one with a stupid mutiny that ruined the test.

But the Dev team have said it won't be the Prometheus.

I mean, as far as they are concerned, the Dev team could just say the Prometheus doesn't exist in their timeline, it diverges before that episode right? I mean obviously it was probably being constructed/designed, but I would still like to know.

Whatever the reason, you are correct. The Dev team has stated several times before that the promy will not be included in Fleet Ops. Indefinately? who knows. I surmise that it's because it would create some sort of imbalance, perhaps due to the fact that it is such a powerful ship Offensively; unlike the defensive tendencies of the descent which are more suitable to have early on in the game.

I trust that whatever the Dev team has in store it will be beautiful and integrate seamlessly into the already well balanced fed experience. I hope this next patch concentrates more on issues with other races...

The problem with a prometheus is this: what do you do if you lose a section in combat? surely you dont want all the pieces flying around separately, and it wouldnt be a very good solution to make the player build a replacement part...
also, please no X refits or the excaibur! the x refits are nice but dont really fit in fleetops, and the excalibur looks uh-gly... sort of like a squashed ambassador with a bad hull day. I vote for the Diligent class, barring that, the ares class, and if it wont be either of those, whatever the FO team picks.

I'd like a fleshed-out Premonition as a nod to Armada I.

A Prometheus would be cool, though the class should have certain limits. It could be integrated in the game if you don't turn into the übership many fans believe it to be.

Anyway, I can only hope that X-Refits won't be included. As far as I'm concerned, The Galaxy-X is one of the most ridiculous designs ever seen on Star Trek. :sweatdrop:

FO is a wargame, X Refits are warships that are not covered by canon specs and can be done anyway the mod wanted. Sounds like a near-perfect match to me.

As for the Prometheus, lose a part and it's the players problem. That isn't something that should have an ingame fix.

But FO tries to follow cannon whenever possible. I remeber reading along time ago that all of the events of FO are based on an RPG. So whatever happened in the that is whats canon to FO. Also if you are dumb and get one of your section destroyed i dont see how thats a problem. however if you lose the top or bottom one you should still be able to fuse the other 2 together, but if you lose the middle one youre screwed. Also im dissapointed that there is no reliant to vote for so i like the ares or the promie. And i cant stand any of the X-refits, blah to many nacells.

You say 3 Nacelles are too many and then vote for a ship with 6?

Almost every ship and station in the game isn't canon, so non-canon isn't a problem at all.

P.S. Galaxy-X is still in the lead.

Actually, if I had to guess, especially when it comes to the Federation I would say that a good 75% of the models are at least based on a canon vessel or station. I really enjoy the fact that they have tried to remain true to the universe in this way.

Obvious exceptions occur in races other than the federation but thats just because there isn't enough to go on with canon material so the Team has to fill in the blanks. But I am still very pleased with the liberties that they have taken and I trust they will continue in this style in future releases.

Even in TNG the only time you see a 3 nacelle ships is the enterprise D from an alternate timeline so I think the game could do without... IMHO
