  Woof ... please no.  Decoys are stupid.

I just have to say, I reaaaaally don't like the idea of adding new Borg vessels - maybe alter a module, but is it really necessary to add a whole new ship? That being said, the early game Borg lineup already seems quite customizable. We have Scout Cubes with three module combinations (beam module will be better soon), an Adapter to take out the heavier early game units, or even turrets and base structures, and then you can tech up to Assimilators or Spheres. I don't think there's a gap in the gameplay at all really.  :sweatdrop: . Just my thought though.

If in would introduce a new vessel it would be a zylinder ... it's just stylish. Apart from that, i don't think that there have to be any new roles for borg ships. But well, you may introduce it as a long range support vessel, which has perhaps some regen-abilities for allied ships and itself.

I like your detailed discription though, boggz!

adding 1 new ship won't hurt the collective in my opinion  :sweatdrop:

bring a new look to the borg too having *new ships* for players to use instead of the standard cube/sphere/diamond :sweatdrop:

Decoys dont seem very borgish.

  Well hey I think you make a really good point.  :)

  I also hope that the Borg early game becomes a little more flexible in the next patch (as it did in 3.1.1), but Borg just have a pretty static early game strategy right now:  move ships within firing range, kill everything you can, move ships out as they start to die.

  There are no special abilities until you get to Assimilators and Spheres.  Thought this might add a little more flavor without throwing Balance.

Yeah, I'd definitely like to see each borg vessel have a module that gives them a special.  What you've described could basically go on the scout cube, as the stats seem almost identical.  That's why spheres are so attractive, because you get your money's worth until you can afford to make the transmission matrix.

Indeed that's true - could have the beam module for the Scour Cube replaced by the "special" mentioned in the first post :). Or ... give the Adapter another module slot  :whistling:

I know this is slightly off topic, but I was wondering how your signature has a picture in it, is it possible to put any picture or just specific ones thx

  Yes, I agree.

Technically a module like this could be made to create a "support" version of certain vessels.

  I'm still hoping that Adaptors are given the ability to choose a single adaption module from any race without the aid of an adaption matrix. Clearly the Borg have encountered all the races in the game before a skirmish that we play, so I think it would be perfectly reasonable.  Thus if you manage to grab a certain race's constructor you can boost your Adaptors up to 50% resistance.

Personally I'd love for that number to go even higher with the actual capturing mechanism, given how some passives are actually at 60% resistance (looks at the S-7  :hmmm: ).

:borg: We will adap .....oh, looks like other races can do it better than we can. :(

Well there are! But you need to research them...an early high energy beam is always nice to have.

  Yeah, that would be fine, though Adaptor spam is not a bad strat in general, mixed with 60% resistance and you could be ...

  In Trouble :)

@Drrr:

  There's no WAY you're going to have the Transmission Matrix and it's abilities before you have an Assimilator or a Sphere. :D

i think i got to agree, with dominus, im not sure there is a need for another vessel, i guess i dont see where exactely this sphere would come into play, like more powerful then a scube or less?

i guess my main feeling is that we have the modles to work with, i would like to see new models everually, however for now i think the only problem is maybye the gap between sphere and cube, as diamond is pretty much support

so what im saying is, diamond is more of a support ship, cube is a late game ship that costs a ton, and sphere starts to loose its effectivness, towards the late mid game, and the adaptor and assimilator i dont use them cus i can just go to sphere

so why not increase a sphere cost to like 60, 65, maybye 70 energy nodes, a little more di and tri, a moduel or two more, make it stronger etc, so that it will hold up better in the later mid game and late game, now make the adaptor a little stronger and cost more, and give some moduls to assim and make it good,

i know its hard to scale different races to each other, but i shall try

so it would be like this comparing fed to borg, i hope i dont ruin it by comparing

scout=scout
probe=moonsoon
scube= a intrepid
adaptor=akira
Assim=excelsior 2
sphere=sovy
Diamond=remore
Cube=phalanx

and i dont literally mean thats what there stats should equal, what im comparing it to is when you use it in the game in general, thats what i think it should be like, of course a few comparisons arnt so great

but basically yeah the probe is like your moonsoon, you use it for early units, a little scouting, some protectiong, the scube, good for some quick attacks a little beefing up, the adaptor, like the akira, kinda durable, can dish out some damage, late early game, or early mid game, the assimilator, early mid game to mid mid game, like the excelsior, good to have a couple of lying around, now you get to the sphere like the sovy, good in the mid mid game to later game, durable can take some hits and dish it out, the diamond a good support, and finally by the time you got some phalanx or cubes out its the late late game, you might have a assim still kicking around, but your spheres and diamonds offer good support to your cube,

idk, maybye bad comparison

main point, sphere, needs to be stronger for later game, assim and adaptor need to spread out and fill in the gap made by sphere,

because as of now, you pretty much dont need an assim or adaptor, unlees your the assim avatar, which ive never played so i wouldnt know
