Post ideas and suggestions on new features or improvements here.

targeting computers could still calculate(using speed and trajectory of the target and the missile) how to fire, to assure a succesfull hit.

look bottom line, unguided weapons can miss. once a pulse has left the emmiter it becomes unguided, therefore it can miss.
lol of course its possible for them to miss, there is always a chance but that chance is so small it doesnt have a big impact and just because pulses are ABLE to miss doesnt mean we should give pulse weapons like 98% hit chance :S

small huh? i see someone hasn't been paying attention during some of the battle scenes
. more than 2% of the pulses fired have missed. fo should reflect what its like in the shows. the hit chance's i suggested earlier should be fine for it.

even stupid things like that argos battle truck that is not completely safe for the people in it or the weird crash into a ship and strangly teh shields are completely gone and the hull is dented... uhmm like those faults?

ONLY in DS9 were they missing all around but they were missing with PHASERS TOO. So dont give me crap about me not paying attention...

i dont ever recall seeing any phasers miss during fleet battles. like you said they missed but they only missed when either i) the action zoomed in on something particular (usually the defiant (that explains that)) ii) the action was about 1 on 1 or 2 on 1 (ie. defiant or runabout being chased around with a "hero" on board). if there were any examples of phasers missing on any occassion, plz post a pic (or link to it) overwise im still not convinced about pulses being failsafe.
BTW
i really was only joking when i said "not paying attention"

Sorry I am a bit annoyed with this topic already

About the pic, I of course dont have any. But I clearly remember they missed A LOT, especially with defiant and Rotaraan (that Martok ship, dont really know if thats the real name

true, they missed, ALOT actually, i can remember meny scenes when the defiant dodged phasers, for ex. "trough the looking glass" episode when the o'brien and others from the alternate universe build a replicate defiant and battle worf's neghvar, phasers missed at point blank range, that is just one of many examples.

finally someone sees the light
i mean try dodging a bullet at close range

why dodge at point blank when you can simply snatch the gun from the shooter?

was meant as a metaphor. nevermind.. i am just wondering how you can grap a phaserbank or a torpedo tube from the enemy ship

all of those examples of phaser fire missing involves a said "hero" ship. so that explains that.

Regular bugs and bops were doddging them too, plus even if they were just hero ships they were still missing

didn't see the regular ones dodging anything, merely breaking apart and blowing up. for the hero's you've said yourself that this is just done to make things look more dramatic. (particually the case with the defiant

anyway its clear nothing is gonna be agreed on in this thread, guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens
