in star trek and most star trek games i know of plasma torps come in difrant yealds (lite wich are fast) (medom wich move at some what slow speed) and (heavy wich are the slowest torpedos)
i was thing about givin the D'deridex Class and up the option to fier a hevay plasma torp as a speshal wepon. this whood do as much or close to as much damge as a tricolbolt torp but whood need to be fired at closer rage and whood move slower.
what do you think?

I think its a good idea...but...I almost prefer the torpedoes auto firing...and as of TNG era...Romulan Warbirds...used photon torpedoes...primarily. But I really like the concept. I also would be quite fond of seeing more torpedo weapon options aboard dominion and other aligned ships.

nice but i think the creators of A1/2 got confused and gave something similar to the klingons instead, the ion cannon. form what i've heard of the ion cannon its supposed to be a beam weapon but was somehow made into a large torpedo
anyway any plasma torp given to the rommies would just be a retextured ion cannon. i think it suites the klingons brute force better than the rommies stealth tactics.

Yep the so-called ion cannon (also known as type 18 disruptor) are the two huge pods that attach underneath the wings on a neghvar. The only time I remember seeing them used on TV was in the DS9 episode when one shot from Gowron's and Martok's Neg took out the shield generators on DS9. Pretty impressive firepower.
That said, the Romulans do have heavy plasma torpedos. Basically they're useless against ships (not maneuverable at all), but can obliterate stations and turrets. I definitely agree that one of the Romulan warbirds (maybe cehaler) should have a monster plasma torpedo to take out turrets and such.

According to DITL the Romulan D'Deridex class warbirds have 6 class 21 Beam disruptors and 12 S2 Photon torpedo tubes...however..I have seen what look like pulses coming from Romulan warbirds in episodes of TNG...however these could be either the photons or some sort of pulse disruptor...I'm inclined to believe that they are the torpedos...you make your own descision.

i think that they can be set to emit pulses instead of a beam when needed. pulses are much more effective against shields

The idea of the Romulan plasma torpedo, to the best of my knowledge, is from a TOS episode where Kirk chases down a primitive romulan bird of prey that is destroying earth outposts near the neutral zone with massive plasma discharges, magnetically bound to a guidance system. The torpedo steers itself by letting bits of its plasma charge vent into space like a reaction control system on the Shuttle or something. Hence its uselessness against manueverable targets.

if this was TOS i think its more than likely that they would've replaced it with something more advanced.
on TNG onwards i've only ever heard of rommie ships equipped with photons, but never actually seen them used only disruptors beams/pulses

But we would hyothisies romulan torpedoes to be green for what reason? Klingon torpedoes are reder yjem federation ones? borg are green? so romulan's who have green ships would have green torpedoes beacuse black wouldent be a good enough visual effect? w/e.

the problem of plasma torps are that they are damn slow and con only be shot at close range because of that venting plasma. the strecnght decay of the torp really goes fast

for a game like this, torpedos in THAT much detail just won't work so well in game.

they are talking about it losing power over distance, are you sure thats possible. the tricobalt torp just does double damage to stations.

i never sed eny thing about losing power over distance,
what my idea is is to make tham as close as we can some things are not posabule and i think making tham loos pawer over distance. but i whood like to see hevry plasma toprs on some romuland ships.
