Galaxy 3

Enough of the flame war both of you, take this to pm please. anyway the point is you can not simply take something like the sovi texture type and stick it on a ship that does not fit a basic sovi shape (ie elongated and oval rather than circular) in order to apply the texture like the "supposed" titan or whatever the sod artist thought he or she was creating it does not fit the standard even as a Kitabash (which is what the G3 is)

Oh but I didn't on purpose, even starfleet knows better than that in times of peace, it is highly unlikely that they would simply refit the galaxy using a completely different skin and texture than there current model, in peace time they would probably simpley draft a new ship rather than create a new model, especcially with a cool off time during the dominon war, the focus would be on small crusier (patrol ships) rather than new all out warships

However, although the Galaxy never QUITE fuffiled it's expectations, it was still an excellant all-around ship design, and when the time for a major overhaul arives, (every 20 years) It's HIGHLY unlikely that starfleet would forgo it to concentrate on other ship designs. I mean, just look at the Excelsior! 100+ years of service, and starfleet still maintains them as if they're brand new.

Yes but look at how things changed after the dominion war, the miranda was treated about the same way, but look how it and the Excelcior just disspapeared after the Dominon war, the feds would not favor a refit of a very pricy long to build dreadnaught when crusiers like the akira and intrepid are doing much better, smaller is becoming a theme, bigger is out, look at the soveriegn it is stronger than the Galaxy in every way and it is almost half as big and only 100 meters longer

Dissapeared?! Where did you get that from?! The Excelsiors were still very active after the war. Those that weren't destroyed, anyway. And also, the Sovy is only about 50 meters longer, not 100. And in addtion, the Intrepid is also "out", as you say. The Federation needed more ships in the war, and instead of putting togather fully functional Intrepids, they scrapped the frames and created some of the ugliest ships in galactic history!

from what we know from DS9 and that was one ship at a yard that was under attack, during the war the focus was on light destroyers, after the war naturally you would need something to patrol the area in which you had just captured cruisers are far more suited for the job, and 50 100 was it really that big a deal? or are you just trying to look smart as you go around the forums making snide remarks and comments against senior members to get attention, causing trouble (or trolling) seems to be what you are up to and I ask that you stop, I don't know about the fleetops staff, but from my own observations every thread you have started has turned into a two sided debate, I am willing to accept that you and others may like the galaxy 3 but I don't I don't think the ship even belongs to be called upon, it is just another random kitabash by another random sod artist. I would much rather that if new models were needed (and they are not) that it be atleast cannon, the Galaxy 3 is as far from cannon as you can get

From what I remember... *pulls up article on forum rules* that could be considered flaming, but I'll let it slide since you may not have meant it as a personal attack. Either that, or I'm just in a good mood today. One of the two. ^_^

To your point about it being a random kitbash: Simply not true. As far as I'm aware, it's was designed and is being used by a PBEMRPG group, and, if you read the article on it, you will see that quite a bit of time and effort went into designing every detail. Plus, when you compare it with most of the other kitbashes, it is DEFINATELY one of the better ones... I once saw one that looked like 50 Oberths fused togather. Now THAT is a horrible kitbash.

Now if it went with this slightly darker skin I might be a bigger fan The texture is dark enough where the gray hull of the Galaxy and the Off white of the sovi don't clash but work nicely together

Well, if Optec accepts the design, he'd probably give it a MAJOR overhaul in the textures department, so if you put a word in with him, you just might get your wish.

when i first saw this screenshot of the galx-3, i shouted "oh no, the borg have assimilated a galaxy class! and made it... bad". can ANYONE explain to me why ussmiranda insists on putting oversized impulse engines on their ships, when regular sized ones already accelerate ships to full impulse in no time?

going back to the classifying of the galaxy class, i seem to recall it being called a battle cruiser, or a heavy battle cruiser several times on TNG and that TNG movie that had the enterprise-B in the begining. sorry for dragging this back up just thought i'd put in my 2 cents.
