You can never have too many ships! that's like saying I see too many Boobs, I have too much money and I have too many Cars.

You should think about combat ships then: prototypes don't work as such ;)

There is 150 or so differnt varients of the cube.

And that is just the cube. I reckon close to 300 variants.

Yup, and most of us only use maybe 10-15 total different layouts for al Borg vessels.

i first max out the torpedoe addons and then i do all the tactical armor adn then i add as much attack as i can.  so i end up with cubes that are huge on offense and defense but very little system value.

Adding a Regen would be smart instead of an extra beam :)

Depends on your prefered way of fighting, and extra beam is better than regen if you want to win through power.

The extra beam means your firepower is split between multiple units, meaning that you have less directed at one unit. So even though you will destroy two, it happens slower and allows your enemy the chance to retreat as well as to do more damage. However, if you are facing mostly destroyers, then a beam would be ok.... but the Regen is muuuuuuch more important: afterall, it allows your Cube to survive for longer (dealing more damage over the time before it dies) and it recovers quicker after battle.

1 regen, 3 Torps and 2 armor upgrades have served me very well.

Yeah, but regeneration doesn't really have a noticable effect most of the time until after the battle. As I said, individual preferences come into it, like I prefer Armor and multi-targeting beams over regeneration.

USS Voyager :P

But as much as i like the series and would like to see some voyager improvements make it towards the standard intrepid, in a FPS the USS Voyager would have been god modding.

Perhaps the 3-nacelle Enterprise can be considered canon and stand a chance.

Heh. Three-nacelled Enterprise got a writeup in my personal Trek history archives. In the anti-time timeline experienced by Picard, the Galaxy-class (Enterprise-type) kicked ass. But a similar refit conducted aboard the U.S.S. Shiva in the standard timeline was a major disappointment, as the phaser cannon kept locking up, the extra nacelle failed to add any warp stability and actually just drained power, and the refit cost over half the ship again in resources.

Basically, I got tired of seeing the Galaxy-X godship in every mod I downloaded (except for Fleet Ops, of course) and I decided it needed to be cut down to size  :sweatdrop:

thats pretty much what i do although i have switched to the extra beam since it also boosts attack power a bit anyways.  i have never encountered a situation where a borg cube has been anywhere near death so regen doesnt do much for me.  i dont play online and i usually send my cubes out with either another cube or with a couple of diamonds or spheres or whatnot so that might make a difference.  i will always pick attack over defense to win all the time..........which kills me cause i like playing the feds but they are a defensive race.  :ermm:

But despite the god modding from the Voyager series, some ideas would make sense in a mod taking place in a time after the dominion war and return from voyager.

Voyager had borg armor bolted on, replace that with ablative armor as seen on the defiant but only on critical places.

The isokinetic canon which voyager wanted to purchase, not too far fetched.

Transphasic torps and ablative generators are a bad idea for obvious reasons

Refractive shielding which they encountered with the Devore could give a stealth option and allow for quick strikes or a little time while bombarding from longer range.
