Bah I dont care about the download size lol. If they do this it would add an incredible amount of diversity into the game, for that Im ready to make sacrifices tongue.gif

Sacrifices... like frying your processor?

Doubtful, I just only got a new comp :P Doesnt matter what FO team puts in there it should have more than enough juice to play 2 FO games at the same time :P

Yeah for stations that could also work, this would really be great :)

Maybe, you could start with a sort of hero unit randomly picked with several options for each race and they could have stats that increase as they fight, and maybe occasional upgrades that you get to choose. OR, maybe rather than being randomely picked there could be different heroes representing different areas of expertise like they did in Empire Earth, such as science, exploration, combat, etc. and their base stats and optional abilities you choose from as they "grow levels" would reflect this expertise. Or, instead of all that, maybe several ships could have interchangeable parts that you decide on before building it like different sort of phasers, i dunno, i'm blabbering.

dont think you can implement an rpg style element into armada ( the increasing something the more you do it). plus any upgrades wouldnt really be random, they would either have to be researched or would be free tech and be available from the get-go.

Or, instead of all that, maybe several ships could have interchangeable parts that you decide on before building it like different sort of phasers,
this does sound very interesting and i think it deserves a bit of research

If it can be pulled off, it will be awesome.

thinking about it more i have to admit that a refit system sounds much more feasable. probably be easier to implement inside of a refit system as well tbh. but still a nice idea though, but like most of them is probably just out of reach due to engine limitations.

sounds kool
but hasnt some1 already done that in a mini mod using a sovereign class

er... to what are you refering? the refit or the interchanging of specific systems/weapons?
posted on June 30th, 2006, 3:31 pm
the refit i remember seeing a minimod that allows the sovereign class to research new weapons (makining it a mobile research station) but the pods were very small so they could not bee seen and containd an extra phaser bank or torpedo bay

i remember a discussion about something like that but i dont know if it has actually been done. besides this refit system is quite a bit different from what your describing, instead of simply adding bits and pieces to a vessel it basically "transforms" it into a completely "new" one.
