I was thinking of some nice features for a third Federation avatar.

Units Granted:
  • Galaxy Class
  • Descent Class

Abilities Granted
  • The Excelsior II can now be built at the Antares Yard but requires Level 2 Chassis Research.
  • The Galaxy Class is built at the Eraudi Yard in place of the Excelsior II and gains the Communications Tap special ability.

Catch:
You don't have to build the Eraudi Yard to get the Excelsior II anymore, but you have to research Chassis Level 2 before you can build it.  Which happens to cost the same as the Eraudi Yard.

You can build the Descent Class only after you have researched Chassis Level 3 and Improved Shielding.

You can build the Galaxy Class just like you do the Excelsior II with other avatars.  Be careful when using the Communications Tap ability as you have to get the vessel within sensor range (can't use scout to help you) of the target to activate the tap.  Don't mis-micro the vessel and keep a look-out for cloaked vessels in the area.  The vessel must survive to maintain the tap.

END

So what do you think of this idea?

change decent for titan class
the comunications tap would be abit overpowered esp vs cloaking races also tapping into the borg wouldnt realy be a smart thing to do

otherwise i kinda like the idea

I'd support an Admiral Riker avatar. Definitely love the idea of the galaxy being buildable from the eraudi yard. Not sure if I like how the communication tap special would work. I'd like to see the titan (Luna class) in the Antares yard along side the akira with chassis level 2.

Would make Riker unique in having specialized units in both yards versus the other 2 which are unique only in 1 yard.

Anything for the ANBASSADOR CLASS?

I second Ambassador class.

Also, for the buildable galaxy class ships, make them all venture refits with quantums, since that would make sense for newer ships.

Better yet, prehaps make the Riker avatar focus on the heaveir fed ships, not build some of the lighter ships and have the warpin be a small swarm of light ships, say two intrepids and three monsoons with their special abilties not requiring research, add 30 secs onto the cooldown for that warpin. And since Riker would be big ship based, have his sabres get photons and additonal strike power since in that case theyd basicly be the ligth ships of that fleet.

I do like Riker as a potential avatar; it's not clear what the comm tap ability would do, so it's hard to comment.

Maybe replace the Excelsior II with the Luna class, have it require the Level 2 chassis, and put it in the Antares yard. I also like Riker getting a more heavily armed Galaxy as well as more heavily armed/heavy weight ships in general. I don't know if his warp-ins need to be changed though.

I also like the idea of Riker as an Avatar. though so far the only Idea I support is the Titan-Class being his special unit. As the Luna erm, titan-class is like the Galaxy in terms of being a scout ship, though in it's case frontier exploratory vessel I Think it should be a support ship with similar offense (not specials) to the Levhal. Meaning like a phaser and photon launcher at Teir one (if it is a first yard ship). Alternatively he could have the USS Luna as a Warp-in replacing the Decent.

Suggestion for Titain-class vessel:
Chassis level 1
Di- 350  Tri- 500  Sup- 15
Supply Cost if Warp-in: 25
Type- Support Ship
Energy Reserve- Typical Support
Arms-
1xPhaser Dmg 10 Refire 2.5 seconds
1xQuantum Torpedo Launcher Dmg 6 Refire 3.5 Volley 4
Passive Abilities-
One with a light tactical effect
Special-
Base- Astrometeric Scan: Increases sensor range and lets out a one time Short range tachyon (not graviton) pulse with a 5% chance of decloak upon activation scan lasts 35 seconds while speed is halved due to warp power being diverted to deep range scanners. Energy Cost 30%
Basic Research 1- Realine Shields: Shields are restructured to negate harmful affects of nebulae and incidentally lessens beam damage by 20%. Ability lasts 60 seconds Energy Cost 38%
Advanced Research 2- Tactical Fire: The crew attempts to scan for and match shield frequencies of nearby ships. +20% damage to shields and increased chance of subsystem hit and damage. lasts 50 seconds 80%

'The new Riker Avatar! A completely new way to smite the Borg! You thought that the Borg had it tough enough vs the Feds? Well we will make it harder! New! E2's out the Antares Yard! No Borgie, either Optimize or Assimilate will be able to stand in your already over-powered way!'

Maybe I should go into advertising business...  :whistling:

oh teh noes. so much things to say i dont like.

i dont like riker, i dont want a riker avatar, i personally prefer to think that riker and troi died when riker crashed the titan into earth's moon on his first mission cos he's stupid.

no thank you to e2 from antares yard, that would be nasty.

same goes for galaxy buildable, i dont think starfleet wants to build any more of those, thats why they are warpin. let the flame war begin. especially if they take the place of the e2, then you could spam battleships from the start.

same goes for ambassador buildable, i love the ambas, its my favourite warpin, i would take 3 ambassadors over any other warpin any day of the week. but they shouldnt be buildable, they are even older than the gal.

i think you know i dont want buildable descent, those are experimental for a reason.

the fan designed luna (the one that appeared in the books) i dont like much, i wouldnt cry over it getting in though, its reasonably new and could work.

E2 from Antares yard o.O ? I suggest Negh'Var from field yard then, to balance it ;).

Galaxy buildable... Well, I really love that ship, but there are already with the warp in too many of them around. The Federation built only 12, you see all of them in typical FO game ;). And now you want to mass produce them, although they are quite out of service and not exactly warships.

But what I'd like would be a much stronger(but much less common) Galaxy class. One that's nearly as strong as a Sovereign.

By the way I'm not opposed to a Riker avatar, but the suggestions made are rather problematic. I'd rather have an Admiral Ross avatar though, fielding loads of cheap, patchworked ships  :whistling:.

on second thought i wouldnt mind having a *section 31* avatar  cloaking scouts (no cloak detect on them or make it refit to cloak detet with no local cloak on the scout like the roms scout)  cloaking defiants (researched cloaking and at chass lvl 2 not 3)  no warpins tho (section 31 doesnt cry for help they are too 1337 for that)  and other ships like the intrepid beefed up tho costing more

I'm not against a Riker avatar.   However,  i'm not convinced that having the Descent and Galaxy as buildable are good things.  I would much rather see the Luna/Titan class (especially the idea outlined by James Zolar).

As for EIIs being moved to Antares, I haven't played multiplayer (something which I soon hope to correct) so I don't know how this will affect gameplay.  That being said, i'm neither for or against this.

Galaxy buildable I support, since the show had more of them than the original number claimed. Same for the Titan-type, depending on which version; Luna Class or fan-made Titan.

Not sure about the Descent; it's still experimental.

I doubt Riker would ever get to Admiral; he'd probably piss off some freighter captain or Klingon scout too soon.

In addition to that, I found it to be nice to have FO-exclusive avatars (except for Martok of course who magically survived thanks to his blessed Daq'Tagh and his magic Bat'leth and his level 100 skills).
Thinking about the time that's passed between Nemesis and FO, I came to find it better to have avatars who became heroes in the FO-timeline (and right before) instead of having avatars we know from movies and shows.
For the klingons it makes sense to still have Martok around since we all know how old Kor grew. Also Klingons stay physically strong for longer time than humans do.

For the federation I'd prefer to have "folks noone ever heard of except for Optec, DOCA Cola and Detektor". FO is still based on an rpg (dunno if it's pen&paper-based) and this way it has its own heroes. Implementing them instead of known Trek-characters would give the role-playing game some more credit and such.
