Nova Class should be Chassis 1
You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

I think that's tough TC. The Nova doesn't need to be chassis 1 to be effective. Feds chassis 1 is already good enough.

Improve its weapon and it'll probably be stronger than an Intrepid, and it already has a stronger defence.

soon (trademark of optec - no copyright infringement intended)
fed chassis 1 is already amazing, and can handle quite a bit of stuff. the monsoon and intrepid complement each other well. where 1 lacks the other doesnt. their only shared weakness is ablative armour and canaverals. but things with ablative armour (mainly vorchas) can usually be dealt with by going e2s, and those dont need a chassis, only the yard.

actually the monsoon isnt that weak against leahvals due to the fact that monsoons can easily outnumber leahvals very very badly. they only do 10% less damage to leahvals, and to be honest i wouldnt care if they stopped firing their phasers completely against leahvals, cos a properly microd leahval should never die to monsoon phasers alone ever. you wont kill them by phasering them, you will get your kills by proximity torping them to death. even if u only get 1 leahval per battle and they get 1 monsoon with meta D. you win, because a leahval costs so much more, has so fewer numbers, and is cost innefficient.
you cant avoid losing a monsoon to meta d, but they cant avoid losing a leahval to a hail of proximity torps. and you can afford a loss, they cant. and your monsoons are perfect for harassing their puny miners. while if u throw up a pulse platform, its ablative armour will make it almost invulernable to leahvals.
the best way for roms to get rid of monsoons is shrikes (which seriously pwn monsoons, and can even be double yarded in the same style). or if helev griffins work well. their beam weapons are quite powerful, and medium range, so you wont miss meta d. and they are defensively stronger than a leahval, meaning they will have to use more of their proximity torps per ship (you'll still lose 1 ship per battle if they use all proximities at once). and the griffin is slightly cheaper than a leahval. if u can afford upgrade facility you could try for spectres, those will seriously stop monsoons, doing more damage to them, and taking less damage from them.

True. But you need quite a few Monsoons to one-shot a Leahval with proxy torp. And until then, it is easier for Leahvals to keep your number down than vice versa. Especially with auto-repair Leahvals.

the numbers you need are easily gotten by double yard spamming mons. auto repair will make them stay alive against phaser fire, but even just cloaking out will prevent them losing leahvals to phaser fire from mons. its all about the proximity torp. dont worry about their auto repair as you shouldnt expect to kill any of them without proximity torp. and if u run early you can keep your mons alive until you get the number required for 1 shotting.

I have an idea about the Nova. Make it Chassis 1, but give it about 1.25x Saber stats with the exception of System value. That'll make the Nova a 14, 15, 9. It wouldn't be as spam-able then.

Hmm, you forgot about what may be the best weapon in the levvie's arsenal: its third special that I forgot the name of

This thread is not about strategy, it's about whether or not the Nova should go to Chassis 1 and if it does go to Chassis 1, what should be changed to keep it balanced.

It's a useful ship that should remain on chassis 2. Mayson desperately begs for reasons to tech beyond chassis 1, so the Nova serves that purpose well.
