Nova Class should be Chassis 1
You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

Which means more micro management skills for the player using it. A Federation player is likely to drain his/her supply on just one special.

But that is actually no effort to do. Why waste supply when you can do one extra click to save all that supply.

To those in the know, the Nova is a badass engine of death, and giving Mayson even easier access to it is a bad idea. It's just 800 more dilithium for the upgrade. Just click the chassis button. It's not a sin, I promise.
I tend to agree. Love the nova, but it is simply too powerful to be made available early.
Nova's are shield killers, fast and their special boosts the already torpedo potent starfleet vessels.
If the Nova is brought to chassis 1 then i can guarantee that within a day after the new version is released people will be complaining about Mayson being overpowered.

It took long enough to get away from the 'Mayson is OP' last time, best not to start that up again... the Romulans would probably fare a bit better than most races though, since they seem to like Pulse weapons quite a bit.

Against the Nova most definitely, but the Norway is still the bane of the Romulans

The main issue I have with the nova is that it requires mayson. And that the akira is a better ship if you disregard the special. The federation is a really odd early game as you sink everything into short ranged ships before getting any variety in your fleet.

But take the special into account and the Nova is something to fear, especially when combined with Intrepids and Akira. Torpedo mayhem.

It would be something to fear, but at a cost. You wouldn't be able to expand as quickly, giving your opponents the opportunity to deal a huge blow to the economy because you were too busy spending your resources on that special instead of building your fleet. I think that moving it down would make Federation player overconfident at the start of the game, then they loose and complain that they never stood a chance.

Don't think the resources are an issue because the Nova is not intended for long term solo strikes.
It is a support vessel. You only need 1 nova to support/boost 5 allied vessels.
That is why it needs to be chassis 2. The moment a Nova appears allied ships become a lot more powerful.
It is the same as with a canaveral. You don't see them in large numbers, but they make a HUGE impact.

The Nova isn't classified as a support vessel. It's classified as a destroyer.

What it's classed as doesn't always reflect what it does in-game. The Diamond also isn't a Support ship, despite a module combination having a supporting ability.

It's special makes it a support. Anyone in the market for some extra torpedoes?

For less than the cost of Chassis Level 2, you can get access to a mix of free short, medium, and long-range ships. Starfleet Command is your friend.

i think the nova is used by more people for its special than its combat role. it has a combat role. its really fast, small and not too weak, and it has medium range. so it can be used against bigger ships where the intrep fails. such as against vorchas. and bigger warships in general. also if the enemy relies on shields more than hull, the nova can quickly strip them of those shields. their incredible speed means they can raid if you are desperate and have nothing better to raid with. its just their special is so awesome, like ketracel on the s2. i always try to use them if i can.

That's the whole point: on its own the Nova is a good ship, but with its special it becomes awesome.
The special is what hold it in chassis 2, without it i doubt many would object to it being moved to chassis 1
