No Sus'a For Yous'a!
You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

yeah i agree with your comment that LDA is a bit too strong. after its mini nerf the susa will still hopefully be formidable, but not as formidable as now.

yep there were some inconsistencies in the Last Ditch Assault leading to too much efficiency for the special energy costs

I wouldn't mind seeing a decrease in its speed when LDA is activated as well. Maybe that's needed, maybe it's not. It's just that the susa is so dang fast.

i just owned a HUGE fleet of susa's and kbq fleet with a tac borg cube killing my base, I exchanged their fleet with mine ( 10~probe/10~dode/some scube and 3 spheres) >:D ahahahha I was against butterbread,

That's just quacking. A tact cube is NOT what we're talking about here.
I think one of the BIGGEST points Mal is trying to make here is that:
The benefit gained from activating LDA is almost entirely uncompromised by it's penalty.
Stop me if I'm wrong, Mal.

Increasing cost for susas would also be nice...they are so easily spammable right now

If you allow the borg to build more than 15 ships you will most likely lose.

So, have you tried the ultimate experiment in Borg arrogance? The all Detector strike team?

actually thats not a bad strat lol

indeed, late game when transmission matrix is up u can do a fleet of detectors to go harassing. they will eat miners quickly and can use transwarp to jump straight past incoming fleets and static defences. detector strike teams are fun.
like mixed tech defiants (rom mixed tech) which have cloaks. they have really solid pulse weapons which murder miners easily, and they can cloak and run away. the fun thing about defiants is they are strong enough to ignore turrets, most players will only put 1 turret at most of the moons, 1 normal turret wont scratch a defiant. and if they spend loads of money putting up several turrets, then you will outproduce them in ships.

I usually load 4 or more per an expansion once I can afford it.

turrets? thats turtling

do that in online play and you will be crushed, you spend your thousands of res building a wall of turrets and i will build a super fleet and eat your fleet, then i will expand everywhere on map (maybe 4 to 6 moon pairs) while u sit behind a wall of turrets with 2 moon pairs. i will then have a fleet to defend my moons with, you will not, i can then build a bunch of artillery ships (bombers, serkas, veqs, e2s) or cubes and come flatten your turrets then move my fleet in to kill whatever smaller fleet u have (as you had no res to build equal sized fleet) and use my artillery mini-fleet to kill all your buildings. all your base will belong to me.
in short: turtling is a bad idea in mp.

most of the time people will not put turrets at most moons. a lot of players will place a HWP or phaser turret at their first expansion to stop early game harassing. this is enough usually, as anything after early game can run before a turret knocks its shields out. the dominion have a perimeter which is actually quite a good buy if you dont sacrifice ship production for it. for the romulans most people ignore turrets. a funny strategy is to build some romulan turrets with no singularity transmitter just to annoy enemy attackers, i personally dont like this idea, as the romulan turret dont do great overall. but i can see the wisdom in it if you are willing to build the transmitter later. but in general i never build romulan turrets.
EDIT: sorry for going off topic

it's not when it's ALL you build.

I've been considering how many detectors it would take to bring down a starbase.
posted on June 17th, 2010, 10:48 pm
Probably about as many Detectors as the Starbase has crew...

indeed, the detector does reduced damage to stations.
detectors should be used for scouting, or for harassing. other than that they arent much use.
