Is This Normal?

You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

Considering the AI had a few of these.. they were strafing two other AI fleets and managed to kill them both in short order. Im just wondering if its normal.

(Sure you can deal with them, just seems kind of.. borg like! :D)

And like a cube, not nearly as scary once you bring in Defiants, Reemores, Generix w/support refit or Vor'Chas...

:borg: Also like a cube, HUGE investment in resources.

Imo the Tavara is imbalanced. It's a bit too strong and with that avatar it costs only 4 credits, so you can have 2 more Tavaras than Descents etc. And on some maps even medium AI keeps spamming fleets with 5 Tavaras, which is sometimes pretty scary...
They should cost more credits or they should be a little weaker as the Descent or that huge Dominion mixed-tech battleship seem to have no chance against a Tavara 1vs1. Even a Cube needs some time and effort to deal with it...

Completely agree. Consider also that both descent and the dreadnought cost more credits and for the dominion dreadnought u actually need some other races tech.
Maybe it could be a little more costly or something, cause a tavara spam is vicious.

to have such attributes on a tavara you have to upgrade her which already is quite expensive. but i will take a deeper look into it

Yep but consider also the perimeter, which also needs to be upgraded and costs the same credits as that avatar tavara. Even a stationary defence platform is weaker than the tavara :S Surely something is wrong.
Not to mention the Dominion Artillery which was a major let-down for me. The damage it does is minimal, considering the huge credit cost and the huge reload rate. Now consider how much stronger the Serkas has become and one must think something is wrong with the balance :)

Also a balancing issue, that intelligence report for cloaked ships is overkill. If played right, romulans and klingons don't have a chance to organize a sneak attack on a base. I think it should be removed, it takes all the pleasure of the mouse and cat game. Just press a button and you know where all cloaked enemy ships are. This is not right...

the Tavara might get some additional requirements to be built or get a reducement in its officer-rank-ability (gaining free upgrades). We are still working on a good and modern way to implement this, without getting just some "Tavara Project" research or something. that would be boring ;)

How about u make it need a new resource for construction, maybe something from a nebula. So you'd have to mine this nebula in order to get the resource the Tavara uses as energy core component.
IMO that would make it unique, diversity between races would be even greater and one would feel satisfaction when he'd get one :)

This way all the BS (big-arse) ships in the game would be unique. Dominion with the mixed tech, feds with the SFC, Borg with the modules/priority resource and Roms with the new experimental energy core.
I think it suits the Roms perfectly

If they kept the Latinum Nebula in, they could have edited that.

but since thats not there, a nebula that is present in most maps wud be easier to implement IMO
