would if fix the problem if its cost a fair amount of supply to fire the weapon. im not sure what that amount would be .......but if it did cost supply to fire the weapon then at least when they fire , the dominion player will take some kind of loss as well. ....and a weapon like that does make sense that it would use up some kinda resource to fire.

Slight supply cost to fire (makes each shot have to count).

Also it shouldnt be able to shoot thru astroids, make it eitehr detonate on the rocks or simply get stuck and dissapate.

50 supply per shot should be ok. If you make it stronger vs buildings then it will be much more used on stationary things...since a miss with HSA is costly.

It is stronger vs building. As I said before, it does double to building and (often greatly) reduced damage to a number of ships. Stations take 490, most ships take the base 245 and a few ships take between 80-150 or so.

Maybe adding the damage reduction to a larger number of ships would help?

What would help is to focus on the base killing aspect. AOE weapons of mass destruction should not be implemented in FO...I would much more prefere tactics and smart use of ships instead of nuke and run.

The Arty should get a much lower frequency for fireing and get its focus on the stations not the ships.
It should be used against strong defensive positions before the actual attack begins. Thats my understanding of artillery. This also counts for the Bortas or nanites...mass destruction by single ships is not good for FO.

Actually I completely agree with what you wrote here. The problem is, that ppl usually don't even try to use thier ships smart, just mass one cost-effective ship class and overrun thier opponents, and thats a behaviour that deservs to get nuked... Even one of the games you are referring to (Nanites thread), you didn't even tried to build some fast interceptors to raid our mining behind the front lines, or go for some kind of a base race when you saw you can't deal with the cubes directly. (actually megadroid did and wiped out all of my mining with a bounch of sabers, while the cubes were holding the frontlines in the middle, but my two allies were pretty much untouched by that time)

You just massed a huge fleet of battlesips, and try hammer your way to victory. Sorry but I won't bother myself to use nasty superweapons, when your only skill is just queue up ships in multiple yards and hit "one a".

I have seen many-many times when smart players managed to stop nanites, and HSA, and all that nasty jazz. I'm really sorry that the  semi-final game of the last tourney wasn't recorded. I think that was one of the best examples how to stop and overcome the "gayness". I basically tried everything aginst Boggz (klingon). I even built a sneaky perimeter on his expansion, had one on mine, built t-15, b-5, s-2 all the "overpowered" dominion stuff. BUT, with good and smart flanking maneuvers he fooled me, dodged the hsa, and won the game... and he deserved it.
Yeah, it needs skill, and smart positioning, but it's also not that easy to use the nanites, HSA or Bortas on a skilled opponent who watches his fleets and constantly moves with them.
Just ask Clint, he yelled at me (but I still love him  ) many-many times, when I actually did  much more damage to me, or to my allies with the HSA, or cut our own reinforcements with one badly targeted shot, and handed our asses to the opposing team.
I think it's a fairly risky strat to tech up for those things, you will surely lack on ship numbers while doing it , and give your opponent a big window of time to raid you to death...

HSA tech can be easily mixed with B5...and these ships are balanced out either...so you jump from one strong strat to another.

Btw you still dont get the point with those super abilities...the point is not that we should have gone for the mining...that will not help us vs the cubes and diamonds or HSA...the point is that any attack against these setup is useless...

In 1v1 however nanites are usually not spammed neither are HSAs. That Boggz could beat you as (guess Klingons) is no sighn that the HSA strat is not OP. Boggz is a very good player and not an average one.

At least with you I will not do any more games for this patch...you always go for the imba strats just to not let your team lose in a formerly fair match up. If your team is about to lose you would use any exploit just to win the game

Well its damage to fleets is unmeasured because anything it hits dies so it needs to do seriously less damage to ships and concertrate on damage to stationary structions as artilery is made for.

Hello there folks,

I have been offline for quite a time. Do u want to know the reason? Because I am a player who plays "gay"...  I really agree on Elim's opinion that some/many strats are too cost-effective or too easy to execute! But I want to play our beloved game without being called "gay". At the moment this is not possible and that makes me sad :crybaby: !!! I will join U again when a new patch is out and this trash talk about overpowered ship-classes XYZ is over... ;)

But why do I post my unimportant opinion on this discussion ???

Because Elim is absolutely right!!! If u let the enemy tech up and dont punish him for that, then u have a little problem in the long run...

Thx for Ur replies and I will cya on Tunngle when the new patch is released!!!

Cheers
