Damn. First game I installed on my new system with a 580. Workaround worked, but the game crashed within 5 minutes. :( Hopefully that was just a one time thing, but I don't have high hopes. :(

I installed the latest driver set (280.26) for my GTX 570 and disabled the d3d9 workaround and... it worked. Stock Armada 2 works as well. Interested in seeing if it works for others.

Well, yesterday I updated my GPU-drivers. Just tested FO and it worked, so I think the newest Nvidia-drivers should solve some issues for some cards... I've got a GTX 570.

Can anyone confirm this I am getting upgrades in October I want to make sure the GTX 550 I am going to get will work with Fleet Ops or not.  I would love to play Battlefield 3 at full or almost full setting, but I would rather be able to play Fleet ops over that.

you wont be able to play battlefield 3 on one gtx 550 at it's higest setting (ultra). the developers say that 2 slid gtx 580s will be needed for that game at ultra. the recommended hardware will only be able to run battlefield 3 at medium.

i too am curious about whether the new drivers are fixing this issue.

Looking around the web, there are reports of the 280 driver fixing these issues. This could be quite pleasant news :)

After looking some more I have the funding to get the GTX 560, but again I am looking to make sure Fleet ops works.  Also would the 560 be better for BF3 than the 550?

the 560 is a superior card in many ways to the 550, it also costs more as you would expect. as its at a higher price point, one would expect it to handle battlefield 3 better. just not at ultra, according to the developers. from what i've heard the 560 is a very good card, and good value for money. i think a 560 would be a better purchase than a 550 if you have 2 6pin pcie cables at the ready.

i'm considering a 560 for my upgrade.

Just received my GTX 560 and installed as far as I can tell I works with Fleet Ops.

thanks for the updates. it appears from all sources that the new drivers have fixed the problem. this helps as i'm considering getting a new card myself. a gtx 560 is what i'm looking at as well. good value for money.

Was there ever a final solution to this issue? I really want to record a playthrough of the campaign missions I've made on my beefy no-lag rig instead of my laggy Windows Vista but it has an Nvidia graphics card. I've updated the Driver, set d3d9=True, and yet I still get the same blocky loading screen and virtually no textures loading in game. :'(

EDIT: Nevermind, d3d9=true does work.

this is said to be fixed with newer driver updates by nvidia (obviously was a bug in their drivers). the d3d9 option in FO is still experimental (and broken) - and if it doesn't help you either, i currently have absolutely no idea :P

Could you be a bit more specific on what Nvidia GPU does it have? The drivers update some 9 months ago fixed the issue for Nvidia's 500 series GPUs.
