Why build Norways when you can build Canaverals?

I used a few Norway's in a fight with the Klingons, didn't even blow up a B'rel.

Norways are an Anti-Scoutship vessel, they cannot take on anything bigger than them.

The special on a few Norway's should be able to do more than dent the shields on a B'rel.

It was you standard 'AI: Merciless' fleet. The Norways attacks were all concentrated in the same area.

Sorry, I don't play against the AI that much: do you mean between 10-15 B'rels... or less? or more? The damage is split, so depending on the amount of Plasming you might not be able to kill 'em. 1-2 Norways will almost lower 5 or so Sabers (defense 15) shields I believe, if that offers any comparison. Plasma is now best used against small numbers of enemy vessels: I'd suggest using Canaverals if you wish to deal with such swarms.

It splits the damage? I didn't know that, the several K't'inga-II probably took the most.

Yup, all damage dealing special weapons now do split damage, except for Engine Overload, Hyperspace Artillery, and Artificial Ion Storm.

I wouldn't mind that. It can be tough to get a veteran, so that should balance ok.
