If your playing Romulans or Klingons or even Dominion at times what ships/buildings with cloak detect worry you?

To me the tachyon scan of the starbase derivatives don't bother me as I know that its a one in a million if I'm half sneaky about where I'm headed. But what is everyone else's opinion?

I would disagree.  If you ping the map, then use it, it can be deadly.  One minuet your romulan enemy thinks he is going to ambush you, and the next he is the one being ambushed.  I have done it many times.  It is the sensor stations you shouldn't worry about.  A lot of people will build them just to scare you, but really, if they haven't used cloak detection yet in the game, it is very unlikely they have it at all.

It all really depends or your style, and how well you know your enemy. :cloak:

"one minuet?" Sorry, but i just gotta do this joke:
Minuet? what are we doing in a TNG episode? :D

a good way to counter cloak which i love is to set up a perimiter of sensors, that way no cloaked fleet can pass, then set up a turret or two to each sensor station, make them torpedo turrets, and any cloaked ship that gets anywhere near, is gonna die

Talon refits worry me. Virtually undetectable, and they move all over the place. I've captured a few Vor'chas and BortaS's because someone wasn't paying attention to their roving cloaked ships

Hmm... I was wondering if there should be a thing where cloak prohibits transport... even Dominion Wars got that right.

heheh... I often times did that in stock, but because of inflation... you need thousands of dil and tri to even make a partial one.

About being half sneaky... almost every spy I have caught was because somebody loled or made some mostly unrelated remark when I was doing something odd/silly (waiting for ships or tech... or being me :sweatdrop:)

I don't know about other players, but the starbase is best for me. I usualy watch my fleet, because if I can move back and repair the ships that get shot, I don't have to pay for a new one. I sometimes see a ship run into something and tachyon it with the starbase. I don't know how Talons do, I haven't used romulans in online play yet, or against a cloaking faction.

Also the idea of leaving my ships without shields in the middle of nowhere does not appeal to me, so I have yet to include cloaking into my aggressinve strategy. Running away with cloak is fine, if there are no shields.

talon refit -> a little change of heart Dominus . i'm truly touched :D

How is that a change of heart Tom? I honestly don't understand your statement. What was asked was "If your playing Romulans or Klingons or even Dominion at times what ships/buildings with cloak detect worry you?", so I said the Talon does. Does this in any way mean that I believe it is overpowered? No, of course not. ;)

I wondered why noone named the sensor nodes of the borg. These are the most announg cloak detection machanism of all, as the borg suffer from connections-lack and thus can easily spend their resources in spamming these, which renders cloaking uselsess.

I really agree that the refitted talons are hard stuff, and should IMO come into play after the sensor stations. There are various ways to implement this.

Boarding cloaked ships is, as I stated before is (even if canon) the greatest rubbish in ST and FO. It's unrealistic as I already explained, and the fact that you cannot retreat a small ship by time is just annoying. (I personally hate any possible action you cant counter at all.)

I thought of them too, but can you realy ambush borg? Why not just rush in... although I probly am thinking of how the borg work on the show, only 1 player match against them in V3.0.6.
No shields against 1 borg ship and you would lose mabey 2 as romulans or 5 as klingons.

Although there was one match against AI, where I had 80+ turrets, and used stationary cloak on the ones about to be destroyed.

So far, in all online matches where I have been borg, I have too many colective connections for my resources, and was not ambushed at all with cloak (Feds in a nebula though...)

I think boarding cloaked ships is realistic, ive done it many times before, i just get alot of stations and ships to transport, and in "real" life (the show) thatd be enough to overwhelm the ship, i think its very cannon, however the cloak and cloak detection has to many variables i feel to be cannon, however, i just thought of somthing, borg have assimilated many cultures including romulans and kligons, so where are our armored invisible cubes that have sheilds and fire while cloaked and can past through solid matter?

Same spot the intrepid with 20 temporal phasers and the warbirds with space folding are! ;)

That sounds cool. Your physics are far beyond any of our time and your notion of realism far beyond any of ours.  :woot:  Pease tell me how to beam trough a cloak, that must be really exciting.

But your point about why the borg cannnot cloak is correct.
