I'd have to say Voyager is also my favorite, followed by DS9, TNG, ENT and last place goes to TOS, but only because the effects are old and look like crud.  Even tho I may like them in that order, doesn't mean to say I hate ENT or TOS, just don't like them quite as much as the others.

ds9, TOS, TNG, voy,  and NOT enterprise.....damn you scott bakula.  :crybaby:

someone mentioned that ds9 was kind of a slap in the face to roddenberry.  that is precisely why i like ds9 better.  roddenberrys original version of star trek was pretty good with the original series where the federation still had balls,  but he completely neutered them in TNG with everyone becoming girly men.

i dont know much about roddenberry as a person but i get the distinct impression that he was a tree hugging pacifist and i cant think of anything more boring than a show created by a hippy that pretty much does nothing but preach to the audience ALL the time.  humanity this and humanity that and peace and hugging and humanity's potential and blah blah blah blah blah.  if it were up to roddenberry humanity would simply go around kissing every alien ass in the universe just to have peaceful coexistence.  i dont know what happed to him between TOS and TNG but man, he lost it.

ds9 made humans a viable military power again (even though they were losing most of the time at least they were fighting).  and the best part was that they pretty much stopped the insufferable preaching.  the only bad part of the show was the pah raith thing which was kind of stupid.  the best part of the show was that it showed that at least some humans were actually willing to get down and dirty again and not be so goddam pretentious like in TNG.  and yes i actually liked the fact that people would do sometimes naughty things to get the job done.  was very refreshing.

voyager sucked cept for seven.

as for enterprise..........scott bakula 'nuff said.

Before stating Mr. Roddenberry was a pacifist, I'd check the series "Earth: final conflict", based on an idea of his and developed by his widow, Majel Barret/Roddenberry.

It's everything but peaceful.

As for peace, and girly men, need I remind you that "The best of both worlds" IS a TNG episode pair?

And DS9 reaped the seeds planted in TNG for the Klingons and the Cardassians. It shaped the universe that gave way to DS9 as we know it, the calm before the storm.

I suggest you to re-view TNG (skipping seasons 1 and 2 :) ). The "excellent" episodes are far from each other, but they are there.

Well, if we're talking consistency...Enterprise by far had the best good episode to bad episode ratio. The other series took a couple seasons before they got going...ENT was great by the 2nd year. V'ger was probably the 2nd most consistent series...the first few seasons were a bit spotty (the whole Seska/Kazon story arc was a bit boring, I thought), but it really picked up...the last 3 seasons are almost all great (with like 4 or so exceptions). I am actually right now watching through DS9 for the first time (I really disliked it when it was airing and didn't really give it a fair chance), and it's pretty hit-or-miss until the 6th season (which I am about 2/3rds through).

My favourite series is DS9. Like others here I really enjoyed the fact that many of the episodes, particularly those of the later series showed the Federation's darker side. It has more of an edge to it and demonstrates that even a society that preaches peace and co-operation will resort to subterfuge and dirty tactics when it comes to it's very survival. DS9 also showcased it's primary cast with more depth than most of the other series in my opinion. True, it is hit and miss, but I actually cared more about the characters in DS9 than any of the others.

I'm always torn on Voyager. It's a really fun series but it's mixed up. On the one hand, it throws so much convention out of the window and yet, at the same time, it seems to re-hash ideas previously explored in episodes of other Trek series. "The Year of Hell" demonstrated what the whole series probably would have been like. Initially there was always an issue of supply and power, and then after season 3 that was sort of forgotten. They could manufacture their own photon torpedoes and had time to build and even invent shuttlecraft and 2 Delta Fliers. It was too immaculate and clean cut and didn't, I don't think, realistically portray a lone Starfleet vessel trapped in a distant Quadrant. Still fun though...

:D  yeah im not alone.

i forgot about all the power issues they had at the beginning of voyager.  voyager was supposed to be an exploration vessel and while it may not have had the 5 year range of a galaxy class it seemed kind of silly that after only a few months they were experiencing massive shortages of everything.  hell are nuclear subs and carriers can go 20 years before refueling and that is supposedly primitive technololgy to them.

Our nuclear subs and carriers cannot go 20 years without refueling, unless you are talking strictly about nuclear fuel. Even then, you need refitting and checking up, and I'm sure Star Trek is no different. When everything relies on the power plant, I'm sure it'll be hard to keep things running--not to mention, energy is not infinite, and you can bet that it takes a heck of a lot more energy to run an Intrepid class starship than a sub or a carrier.

TNG is amazing but the Episodes were too disjointed. With the Exception of the Borg stuff and the Episodes having to do with the Klingon Civil War. There was no real continuity.

I have to agree, really. DS9 comes top, then probably Voyager. The rest is a complete muddle, I really don't prefer one ever the other... Voyager only comes second over the others by the slightest margin.
I'm a sci-fi fan more than a specifically Star Trek one I suppose, and the above provided more examples of the stuff I like to see :)
Don't get me wrong, I love all the others as well. TOS and it's realted movies are great, if sometimes only for comedic value. TNG too - when I look at the bigger picture it seems TNG was trying to be TOS while written as if pretending to have an overarching plot (other than the ever present boldly going :P), so when I watch it I can't continue to "suspend my disbelief". Although the TNG movies are mostly good.
Enterprise was nice to watch but so far from the trek universe I know and love that I just couldn't help feeling something was missing the whole time. What it needed was more links to the "futures" mentioned above, more stuff that could have kept the fans interested while still appealing to... whatever other audience they were aiming for :/ (That's similar to how I felt about the JJ film, good as it was. And now this post is longer than I intended. Damn.)

Actually, I've only ever seen a full series (episodes in the correct order) of DS9 and TNG, and even then only one or two series'. Everything else I've just seen bits of in a strange order, and yet I still manage to understand what goes on... That works better with TOS and especially TNG I reckon. Voyager does the same thing too to a similar extent... wait, what am I talking about, didn't they start with ((Oh dammit, ruined my own joke for myself: The Coffee Nebula - Voyager Scoreboards: Shuttlecraft Status)))

...but it makes up for that and those :shifty: psuedo-scientifically not quite right episodes with some really good ones. (Cue evil Janeway)

DS9 had in my opinion the best and the worst Star Trek episodes(although more best than worst ), it is my fevourite series, too, although TNG is very close behind. The TNG crew was much cooler, no captain can mess with Picard, and the "becoming-human" story was interesting and funny with Data, but not with Seven or T'Pol.
Voyager and Enterpriseare after but I can#t really decide which one is better. The fourth season of Enterprise was one of the best seasons ever and Voyager had its moments, although it was a step back considering DS9.
I never really watched TOS, I guess I'll watch TMP soon.

1. DS9
2. TNG
3. TOS
4. VOYAGER
5. ENTERPRISE

Did I miss any?  God, Enterprise was awful. lol.  Its worse than Star Trek V....that's how bad it was.  And I actually liked every Star Trek movie to date.  I still wish they'd do a DS9 flick.

   HOW?

in the last episode, EVERYONE Left.  Sisko is playing with the prophits, Worf got a desk job with the Klingons,  O'Brien is teaching at the academy, Rom left to be Grand Negas, Dax died and got replaced with fake dax. and Garak and Odo went home

so what do you have left?

Kira got dumped and is left in charge, Quark is watering down drinks again, Julian is still learking around, and you have Jake with his "writting carreer" and Sisko's baby momma.   OHHH let the cameras roll.

Wait,  Ben Married her b4 he left didn't he?

point being, you cant loose over ½ your main charecters and still have a good movie.

IMHO anyways
