So which was everyones fav startrek series.

Mine was as you guessed deep space nine great series watched it alot when it first came out and watched the whole series again recently on virgin1 and bravo.

I liked it because there was so much action compared to any of the other series of star trek and many interesting species that were around often and not just in 1 episode which was the case in the next generation.
I was fascinated by the dominion and all the space battles which were pretty cool considering it was made in 1993.

So which was yours?

Well, so Far my top is DS9.

But I basically have it as this

DS9: 9.9
Voyager: 9.82 (because of all the new races and interesting designs)
Sovereign Series: 9.7 (Any movie from ST: Generations to Nemesis)
TNG: 8.2
Enterprise: 8.0
TMP: 6.3
TOS: 3.2 (The effects were horrible, as well as funky story writing)

DS9 all the way had the best over arching story line with the Dominion Wars. Even though I didnt like alot of the Prophet, Emissary B.S. It added to the story dynamic.

TNG is amazing but the Episodes were too disjointed. With the Exception of the Borg stuff and the Episodes having to do with the Klingon Civil War. There was no real continuity.

This is my order:

  • TNG: 9.8 - My first Series...
  • DS9: 9.7 - Interesting characters and a full scale war! (That was more realistic than the heroic struggle you normally get in media...)
  • TNG Movies: 9.3 - Good, but the lack of a Galaxy Class after generations was not my favorite concept...
  • TMP: 9.0 - KHAAAAAAAAAAAAN! (Need I say more?)
  • TOS: 8.0 - Kirk, the tart who fears shirts, was amusing, so was the common McCoy Vs Spock interactions.
  • Enterprise: 6.0 - ...
  • Voyager: 5.0 - All series had good and bad episodes, but Voyager had more bad on average than the others...

A fair assessment in my eyes Tyler... Voyager always seemed like an afterthought for me...Like "hey we don't have anything better, so lets just slap some crap together and call it a show." Paris was too cowboy, torres was just a stereotypical angry Klingon but stupid angry, not awesome angry like Worf. And Janeway was just annoying. Chakotay and Tuvok were probably the only decent characters but even Chakotay seemed whiney sometimes. Dunno... it just didn't do it for me... too much mindless meandering in the Dialog between the characters.

My favourite series of all of them?

Voyager.

Why?

Two words: Jeri Ryan.

Resistance is definitely  futile.  :borg:

Second is TNG, even if the quality of episodes varies greatly according to seasons (with the two first ones being mostly bad).

DS 9 for me. Best acting, best writing, and the coolest space battles in Star Trek :)

1. Voyager
2. Enterprise
3. TNG
4. DS9
5. TOS

As for the movies...this thread is about the SERIES so I won't even think about it.

i grew up watching TNG so its the best, also i skipped seasons 1&2 back then :)
ds9 was nice but the actors do not come even close to those from the TNG, Avery Brooks vs Patrick Stewart do i need to say more.
voyager had some cool stuff (the borg for instance) but mostly failed. the acting and stories were so bad imo that they left me with that feeling "c'mon now, this is just stupid" or "oh God not this shit again" most of the time.
i didn't watch TOS and ENT and i'm not going to :whistling:

1:TNG The one I grew up with, and one of my favorites
2:Voyager Interesting storyline, lots of Borg episodes, cool new aliens
3:Enterprise Cool plot, weird characters though, stupid plot devices
4:TOS Hey, its the original!  :D I also watched like a million of the remastered ones online this summer
5:DS9 This may insult some people, but, I never really liked DS9, mostly because thre was too much talking, and not enough warfare for me. (If there is a war going on, and they are the front line where are the battles?) I just watch the exciting parts on google videos.

Star Trek is just awesome, and I would love to see a new series (A good one!) I think Star Trek: Titan would be a great one. I mean, there would be Riker, Troi, and a bunch of cool aliens like the Horta engineer. I would love to see a new series!

well, lets see.  growing up, there were the old TOS reruns, I'd see one every now and then, they were ok.

TNG came around, was awesome (for the day)  IMHO, it was a good story line that just happened to take place in space.

DS9 came about and it has a little rougher of a start.  the first 3 seasons were really hard to get through, but after they got the Defiant, things really picked up.  once the Son of Mogh made the scene, it was awesome*

* = it was always my opinion / interoperation, that Gene's vision of the future was one where mankind had overcome the need for war and conflict and had learned to communicate problems.  a point in human evolution, where the main goal is life was no longer the acquisition of wealth, but of expanding ones mind and knowledge.  so the whole "lets have a huge honken space war" seemed like a huge slap in the face to the late Roddenberry.

that all being said, I like seeing ships go boom.

VGR came along and had hella problems. hella inconsistencies that pretty much ruined it for me.  but then Miss Hansen made the scene and shortly there after the Delta Flyer and I got by.  DESPITE the HUGE (what the hells)  i.e.  why does a starship crew all wear starbase uniforms?  why does a federation starship have cardassian doorbells on all the rooms?  how can a technologically inferior race as the Kazon be able to surgically reconstruct a face of a species they have never seen?

Then there was Enterprise.  and even though I wasn't a fan of the backwards step they took, I LOVED the attention to detail (for the most part)  the Data plates on everything was dead on realistic and close to what todays miliatary uses(the US one anyways)  but the fact that anyone considers Water polo to be a sport is comical at best  :woot:

still, it was nice to see Dr. Beckett getting some work again, he even got his hologram buddy Al in as a guest slot.  I help waiting for him to get sucked up in a BLUE transporter beam but it never happened, though he DID wake up in the past.

bottom line  ranking them all, I'd have to go

TNG, DS9, ENT, VGR and TOS

Definitely Voyager is the show that entertained me the most.  :woot: If Star Trek is about exploration, this is the show that does it best. Is the series with the most memorable episodes (at least for me). It has its flaws, but then again which show is perfect ? On the second place is ENT and DS9. I don't understand why some people don't like ENT. The first two seasons were not so great, but from the season 3 things got a lot better. And then they canceled it.  :crybaby: DS9 was the darkest series and I especially liked the continuity. Although TNG was my first series, I don't enjoy it very much. The characters are good, but the stories are dull. They all start with Enterprise receiving a distress call. Very creative. TOS in not bad at all, considering is made in 60's, and although the effects are silly, the remastered version corrects that.

If they do another series, I hope it will be (far) in the future. Maybe the show can start with the Federation being on the brink of extinction because of a very powerful enemy (borg, anyone ?) The aimlessly wander of a single ship through universe is not very fun. Federation at war will definitely be a show worth watching. Just my 2 cents...

Hmm. Voyager was absolutely great with the Borg and Seven of Nine! And if you think Voyager had more bad than others (Sure the dialog wasnt the best but the story was good), watch DS9. Not the 2 parters, the 10 parters in the 7th season. Come on people, I love DS9 but it had a lot of dragging on! Also watch the ending (It was terrible). I hate how Sisko is an old man (50s+) and knocks a girl up. Then the writers decide to end with him basically abandoning her. I mean what are they on? Dont get me wrong (I own every series and movie on dvd) I love DS9 season 4, 5, and 6, but the rest is a lot of crap. Someone bought me season 1 and 2 for $70 each on Amazon for my birthday (after I had allready watched season 5 and 6) and you woulnt believe how dissipointed I was.

Here is a list of WTF episodes (and belive it was hard not to fall asleep)

    Season 1:
         Captive Pursuit
         Babel
         Dax
        [glow=red,2,300]Move Along Home [/glow]

    [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRBNyrL1lH8&feature=relatedCaptive Pursuit [/youtube]

    Season 2:
         Cardassians
         Second Sight
         Sanctuary
         Playing God
         Tribunal

    Season 7
         Shadows and Symbols
         Afterimage
         Chrysalis
Treachery, Faith And The Great River
         Once More Into The Breach
         The Seige of AR-558
         It's Only A Paper Moon
Prodigal Daughter (Sequil to the terrible episode Honor Among Theives S6)
         Field of Fire

    The 10 Part Begins
         Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges
         Penumbra
         Umbra
         Eclipse
         The Changing Face of Evil
         When It Rains... (YES ...!)
         Tacking With The Wind
         Night Tremors
What You Leave Behind (Series Disaster)

So basically, allmost all of season 7. If you dont believe these episodes arent boring, try watching them (only them) all day tommorow! And believe me, there are a lot more episodes I missed ;).

Also if you want a more extensive explanation, watch these. Confused Matthew

Keep in mind I am not trying to offend any of you hardcore DS9 Fans, but to prove to you Voyager is not that bad.

Just in case your curios of my Voyager top worst episodes, they are:

    S3:
    [lil] The Chute

    S5:
    [lil] Nothing Human

And of coarse a few more I cant think of.

I am trying to prove to you Voyager is not bad (it is my favorite series). It has the Borg. A hot girl Seven of Nine. Lots of Adventure. A firm female captain (Star Trek is not sexist  :D). Tom Paris's cheesy jokes. For those of you who like Opera; Robert Picardo. The cool 29th century time travelors and temporal cold war. George from Seinfeld (S5 Ep: Think Tank). A Prince or King of some European country (I forgot what) in the background on an episode. Oh yes, the return of Alice Kringe as the Borg queen to replace Susana Tompson (te lezbian who kissed Jadzia on season 4 of Deep Space) and an awesome ending I think! Species 8472! A lot of strange, cool aliens. One of my favorite aspects is how they are lost and trying to get home. In other words they have a major goal throught the entire series (getting home) that almost every episode was based on, and I think it makes it realy epic! You may argue that DS9 had a goal (beating the Dominion), but the war was only for 2.5 seasons (starting when Gul Dukat betrays the federation in Purgatory's Shadow).

Ok, sorry if this was too much and painful to read, but you get my point. I am not arguing that Voyager is better than DS9, I am saying it is just is good.
