STXII in 2012
What's your favourite episode? How is romulan ale brewed? - Star Trek in general :-)

Earlier this week TrekMovie reported that, based on the Paramount’s release slate and the schedules of the filmmakers, the chances of a Star Trek sequel in 2011 were shrinking. Now comes the first (sort of) confirmation of this, with comments from screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman made at the Screenwriting Expo held in Los Angeles this week. More details below

Hopefully there will never be a Galaxy Class in tha timeline... the last thing I need to see is a Galaxy Class that looks like a Picasso painting.

I found this just for you Tyler.

It's actually someone's rendition of the Enterprise G, but I think it does a good job of showing what a Galaxy class starship would look like in JJ's universe.

I would love to see a next generation version in the alternate timeline. A new Galaxy class, etc etc. That woudl be awesome to see the evolution since the original.

Any sequel to that awful STXI isn't worth watching. I knew that Star Trek had been going downhill due to a shift towards pure action over substance (Star Trek:Enterprise being the climax of nothing but action-packed suck), but I never expected the utterly horrible problems seen in the latest movie. Red Matter creates black holes that are unlike anything ever seen when it is ignited, Seriously? I wouldn't be surprised if they rewrote captain Picard into being a warmongering Klingon-like figure who seeks revenge for a massacre caused by the Romulans...and get's it by blowing their planet up (would save special effects money.) I think it's kind of symbolic that in Star Trek XI, where explosions beat out logic, Vulcan gets destroyed by Romulans. I doubt JJ notices this, judging his intelligence by the thought it took to make the plotline of the movie.

its so stupid... obviously red matter makes red-holes... they are smilar to black holes, only they can pop up and out of reality at a screen-writers discretion (when interacting with planets, it has to be done at the center of the planet require a long scene of opportunity to prevent it, when interacting with other less matter-filled objects, like starships, the redmatter creates a redhole instantly)... this is so typical of startrek to steal my working hypothesis!
well... off to my next project... and this one i WILL get credit for... "Green Matter and how its reaction to Red Matter created the Plaid Universe"

Well I'm looking forward to it at any rate. As I see it, the J.J. Abrams universe isn't really Star Trek as I know it from the Enterprise-D, but I like it anyway. I don't really see it as a continuation of the same universe as much as a branch off of it, which - for better or for worse - is what it is. It's entertaining on its own merits, even if it isn't quite as cerebral or morally compelling as the television shows of bygone days.

even though i don't like the "new and improved" star trek, i think it's the only possible way for star trek to continue. fans of "old" star trek, for want of a better word, are a dying breed. to get the new people into it they had to add all the PEW PEW KABOOOM star wars stuff.

I liked ST:XI... and I've followed Star Trek since TOS. I thought it was a great mix of old-trek and new-style... it had enough of the "classic" feel to it to appeal to die-hard trekkies (including a few good old lines) but it was action packed enough to draw in a new crowd that can revive the franchise on a whole... yes, it's not true classic trek, but it's what Trek needs to resurrect itself over the tripe that is Star Wars Episodes 1-3.
