Like the sovereign...I think it's totally awesome. But it feels kind of weird for an enterprise..If I could compare the enterprise designs to women...well, theyre all beautifull. But that sovereign is a flashing, skimpy-clothed, 20 year old miss-election kind of babe. I get the same feeling with a lot of these designs.
The older design seem to scream for attention a lot less. lol
But what do you think of mine?!?

Though the way it looks like it's in constant motion sets the right tone; that they're always moving foward. Starfleet ships like the Sovereign are also there to make a statement about the Federation.

As I said, I am totally fine if you hate it. I hate alot of other ships people consider pretty, and I should be able to take the same from my own design.
Its very creative, but not my cup of tea

I was actually tempted to submit a design I was working on that, without trying to sound arrogant, probably would have won based on comparing it to the other entries on STO's site. I had a friend working on a 3D render until I found that the winner basically agrees to hand over their intellectual property to CBS, relinquishing all rights to the design and any further modification or personal use of it. This was something I couldn't work with, as the ship was basically a little in-joke I had with some friends about what a certain website would be like if it was a starship, and so using it on that site would probably end up with backlash from CBS just for using my own design in a context they probably wouldn't be too happy with.
It's only a laptop anyway, and I have no interest in a lifetime sub to a sub-par game.
But if anyone's interested in the what could have been, here's the rough lineart and (very) rough 3D render that I have so far.

As the others said, not my cup of tea, however it is very STO like.
I think that one of the ones in first atm will win. They look like something the judges will look for anyway.

I was never a big fan of the Sovereign, either. The galaxy and constitutions both had fairly simple designs, whereas the Sovereign always seemed to "modular" and complicated to me. It has too many pointless little details. The Galaxy kept it simple - a really smooth design, with two big phaser arrays on the saucer, a deflector dish, and two big red impulse engines... other than that, it was just smooth metal.
I think the design differences between the Galaxy and the Sovereign reflect the way star trek changed between the beginning TNG and by the time the movies were made... it used to be all happy and optimistic, but by the time the Sovereign class came around, things were much more "realistic" and more dark, with more war and what not.

count them again.

what about the giant windows for rooms like ten forward, and the even larger captain's quarters. that annoyed me about voyager, the captain's quarters were bigger than the mess hall on the above deck. star trek was about equality, not the captain living in a penthouse suite.

Must have missed the large, glowing engine on the neck and only counted the smaller ones on the saucer that are hard to see from rarely being turned on.
How do you manage that?

Not that the captain originally had her own private dining room, of course....

Tyrants have a tendancy to have different facilities from her lackeys.

It would be really awesome if you all would vote for it too.
STO
It's ugly as sin. No offence, I just dont like it
But it looks better than most of the STO offical models I've seen pics of.

Well yeah, of course a ship is going to have windows. But overall I think the design of the galaxy is really smooth and curvy and is overall much simpler than the Sovereign, and this makes the galaxy look much more majestic and like a flagship than the sovereign.
