I knew STO was pure suck the moment they offered serious in-game advantages to people who bought a lifetime account...before the game launched.

The smell of blatant, short-term cash gouge overwhelmed my nose like the pustulent shit it is.

For sure it's not a bad game... but the issues the game has just prevents me from purchasing it. Especially the lack of good non combat missions turns me off as well as the really, really bad ground controls. I'd love to see more missions where battle is used as spice and not as core game play. I grew up with another Star Trek which is presented nowadays.

Remember the old Nintendo 25th Anniversary star trek game?  Why couldn't they have done more of that, with puzzles and the like.  If they're anything like instances in WoW, they could create some interesting puzzles, and maybe have a few variations, where the solution is not the same every time.  I don't think I'll buy the game either, but it does look fun.

I quit playing the game. Wasn't really addicting and ground combat didn't feel any good. Space combat is pretty decent though.

i've nva played as i dnt see the point paying monthly for a game (if there was a one of life fee thats wasnt too expensive then possibly

anyway to those who do play any chance of getting good quality orthos pix of the ships (side top, bottom, front, rear) it may givee ppl ideas on making some for a2/fo (some of the designs are pretty kool but others are not

sounds like you would like EVE better. Also i think i may have already said this but i had the most fun messing around with the character creator, uniform builder, and the ship customization.

If you check our STO Forum there is a section I made for that purpose basically, but no-one has really done anything with it yet.  I realize my design probably won't be liked by most, but I love it, and I forgot to take a bottom shot of my ship, will have to do that soon.

They've added the difficulty slider, that looks interesting. I'll be playing again after my exams. Btw nice website Mort :P

Difficulty slider just plain sucks. You get shot down before you can fire 1 shot and if you complain about it, people just say you lack skill. Also Mort, I didn't know you had stopped playing STO

I just played some STO after Funny graciously gave me a trial version.  It only lets you go through the beginning missions, just enough to see what ground and space combat are like.  The space combat was kind of fun, but not enticing enough to get me hooked.  The space combat in FO is even more fun! :woot:

I can see the appeal of it, but it was far too easy.  None of my away team died, in fact I think I could avoid the fight and let them take things out.  And I just never felt enticed to explore anything.  It was always "kill 4 things and move on".  World of Warcraft was far more entertaining, even though they're basically the same thing.

My favorite part was playing around with the weapon configurations.  I put 2 phasers in the front and my torpedo in the back.  Too bad I didn't have any money to try out any other types of weapons.

Thanks again Funny for letting me try it out at least.

STO is awsome, they dont change things, or take stuff away. They have micro transactions like 90% of mmo's these days. And there constantly adding new stuff FOR FREE.

AND THE EXELSIOR IS IN THE NEXT PATCH!! Iv been overseas but STO keeps getting better and better.
