I think I remember seeing it during that 1 mission, before it vanished as soon as the invaders were repelled. Practically a mini-game rather than a mission.
You more a fan of the 'enhanced' version?

i thought the regular compression rifle was only available in the first mission in the borg sphere, and then you never got it again.
the enhanced one always felt like it was worse, it fired loads of little thingies that did little damage.

Apparently, it gets 1 more appearence before it's scrapped for good from the Human inventory.

Actually, I never thought much of the standard compression rifle, the enhanced version and assault rifle seemed much more fitting for what amounts to a military strike team; the standard compression rifle is more for dangerous away missions. My only gripe about the enhanced rifle was that it never did as much damage as you wanted it to. The assault rifle was great at close, even meduim range though.

I've never been a fan of the NX design myself due to it's resemblance to the 24th century Akira. I actually refer other designs like the one I have made for my FO Ent project on MSFC.

the assault rifle was great, just it was really a shotgun. it handled things that got up close.
up close the shotgun was way better than enhanced comp, and at range a normal compression was more useful than an enhanced comp. thats why i didnt find much use for it, as there was always better weapons available.

Its becasue the NX is an upside down Akira with a few changes made.

Myles wrote:tetryon pulse thingy. was pretty awesome, munched through ammo pretty fast thoughbouncy shots was fun though, if kinda wasteful. in ef2 you could get the tetryon gatling gun (a similar weapon) by killing a klingon who fought dishonourably with a machine.
Yeah, the tetryon pulse launcher was quite the nerf gun - second only to the arc welder. It just mowed everything down. The bounce pulses were pretty useless though. The EF 2 version never seemed quite as useful though, it's like it lost its nerfing power.

I never liked the arc welder the only 3 guns i needed were the tetryon pulse launcher the compression rifle? and the hand phaser. Ok the photon launcher was fun too.

the arc welder was powerful, it made the last missions easy, but it was an ammo hog. lower tier weapons were more cost efficient. just like the photon launcher.
my favourite gun was the imod, it kinda behaved like a shotgun, powerful 1 shot with wide collision detection. also carried well over range like a rifle, but the borg interiors were a bit cramped anyway, so it got shotgun usage.
mp specials were fun too.
