New Cybernetic Race Idea

What's your favourite episode? How is romulan ale brewed? - Star Trek in general :-)

I have an idea to add a new cybernetic race for the Federation to deal with.  Similar to the Borg except for the following differences.

The Borg are on a quest for perfection.  This new race just wants to conquer everything it comes across and doesn't care about 'perfection.'

The Borg assimilate you if you get near them and they don't come after you if you destroy their vessel.  This new race will come after you in fleets.

Add more firepower, intelligence, aggression, bigger vessels, and even less diplomacy, and you've got a race that can easily rival the Borg and Species 8472.  And once they know where you are, they'll send fleets of vessels out to get you.  They will add your technology to their technology and enslave the people operating that technology by means of cybernetic implants.  And they'll never back off.

I think the game doesn't need a new race.
As far as NPC-factions go, there may of course be room for another cybernetic collective, but I can think of more interesting concepts. A race like the Advent from Sins of a Solar Empire for example; A unity that collectively rages against a long-time arch enemy.

The Star Trek games are irrelevant.  I'm talking about for another Star Trek series.

Another series? What a shame after five shows and lots of inofficial shows in the www x.x sometimes enough is simply enough.

After Enterprise, I doubt a new Trek series will ever be made.

it was a shame about enterprise's sudden demise, i always enjoyed the episodes with Jeffery Combs playing as Shran, apparently Shran would of joined the Enterprise crew in season 5 as a permanent member, it would of been interesting to watch.

anyhow, the borg are destructive enough as it is, another borg or pralor or cravic race wouldnt really be worth the effort.

yup they wanted shran as a regular, i could see confrontations with malcolm.

also i think they were gonna tackle the earth alliance vs romulus war. apparantely earth's new friends helped fight romulans. it would be nice to see some andorian ships fight again lol

Zchӧv’Xїӱ Race:

Race Type: Cybernetic/non-biological
Anatomy Configuration: Non-humanoid
Homeworld Location: Subspace

Xeno Biology: These metalic life forms are very cunning. These small creatures depict the appearence of a Spider or Arachnid. Their form made out of an advanced substance called biosteel, allowing these creatures to survive in even the most corrosive enviroments. Biosteel is the only known metal with the ability to naturally regenerate like human skin. But this biosteel is durable and strong enough to where the entire exoskeleton is constructed of this material. All of these Arachnid stand on an average of 18 to 26 inches in height, varying in diameter between 4 to 6 feet including the legs. There are no known genders of this race, since the only known way of reporduction for this race is either self replication from another arachnid, or replication from the motherships themselves. All arachnids have their own energy core that gives them the ability to operate. Though they depend on consuming energy from outside sources in order to survive.

Their ships are like themselves, made from biosteel. But these ships can provide the necessary energy to survive, but use of various special abilities can cause a massive drain in energy. And since only minimal energy is available ontop of the energy feed systems (aka their life support) and other systems, energy recharge rate is extremely slow (less than one point per minute). Many Stations that have large energy cores can provide energy to nearby ships, but once a ship is out in the field, its erergy regain rate is as slow as a slug.

These creatures often live in dense swarms and hives aboard vessels (i.e. a ship the size of a saber would have nearly a thousand aboard). These creatures do have transporter technology allowing them to swarm other ships. Capturing ships gives them a great boost of energy. And energy is all they want from other ships so that they keep alive. But, thanks to the fact that they can replicate, recrewing is a matter on every ship.

Okay, that was a bit of fun. Now, for the race's construction tree. I believe that there would be four yards, and one research facility (since very few of their ships have a special ability, and stations other then the Radar Turret would have only energy rechargers as their special ability). Their ships would be very selective to their role, meaning that they have minmal strentgh outside of the role they are listed (i.e. a Strike Cruiser would not be durable enough to act as a defense cruiser). Overall, spamming is necessary since these creatures always think of effectiveness in large numbers (i.e. a "Defense Cruiser" on its own might be able to take on a destroyer, but it would take at least six in order to take on a "Equal" class of another race). A lot of their ships are expensive, but quick to build. Ships made for defense would be much more expensive than a similar class for offensive purposes.

One unique feature that I can think of is that their turrets are not stationary, they can be towed around by the Utility vessel (aka. their construction ship. Also they'd be the first to have a medium range tractor beam, without draining any energy). One thing that they praisingly also achieved is that their freighters carry twice the average load of resources (Instead of 150/100, its 300/200). This is because they have a very expensive economy.

Making up your own is cool, but why not the...CYBERMEN!!!! Or the Daleks for that matter.

On the other hand, my idea...

The Traxions

A race named for the distant star system they were first discovered in, these devious machines like to add to themselves though technological absorption. They resemble large squarish masses of metal with various plates covering retractable external appendages. They believe only machines or other artificial beings are supreme, and have an almost fanatical religious like desire for making machines higher than others. Their ships resemble large shiny metallic spikes allowing them to ram and steal a ship's technology...they leave little behind after raiding a ship. I would imagine them to be an NPR, so they would only have one ship, some bigger and stronger than others. They are remarkably easy to destroy because much of their stolen technology is not really compatible with each other.

Wrong series. Besides, the Cybermen and Borg are largely the same (budget-based coincidence, whatever Who fans claim).

Assuming Doctor Who stuff works under Trek 'laws'.

Another thing about the Borg and Cybermen though, the Cybermen came first. Besides, not only are the Daleks way cooler than them in every respect but the assimilation thing is sorta common.

Oh, so all races have to have two legs and two arms in this game? No arachnids, no insectoids? Man, you guys are racist against non-humanoid races.

It's speciesism not racism, and thinking about what you're familer with doesn't make Cyberman fans count.

The Noxter will not be humanoid.

Not to mention noone knows how Iconians and Ciadan look like.

Sounds ALOT like the Ciadan fused with the Noxter to me.
