I don't get to play a lot of games online all the time...maybe a few a week. While playing against the AI is fun....it gets a little repetitive after awhile. I'm looking for some good newer Star Trek games or mods. To give you an idea of what Trek games I've liked in the past;
EGA Trek (quite possibly one of the best Trek games ever)
Star Trek: A Final Unity.....if I could get this to run (won't even run in DOS-box)...I'd play this. If anyone can get this game to run, let me know how. It opens in DOS-box, but won't install. So I installed it in a VM and it still won't run.
STBC games were cool in concept...but I never got the jist of the game.
Oh...also there was a cool mod for Quake 1 and Quake 2 called "Star Trek:The Quake Simulation"....but again, its only fun if you have a lot of ppl playing it.
Also for Quake 1, there was the Borg bot.....which I never successfully integrated into The Quake Simulation mod. I could get the map to load, but none of the functions worked correctly. If only there was a Borg bot for Quake 2 or a similar bot that could be reskinned. It was so easy to combine mods in Q2.
I'd also be up for trying and type of game....FPS, RPG, etc.....I just wanted to try something new Trek.

star trek elite force is similar to quake based games. its kinda old but a fun game. star trek elite force 2, its sequal is more modern and equally fun. each have several mods.

theres also star trek excalibur (however excalibur is speeled) you guys should google it, it looks like it will be a good game, completely new engine, so they dont have any restrictions on modding
does anybody know how far along they are tho? or when it may be released?

Why does the DOSbox website say then that the game is fully supported? Maybe you are using wrong settings.
DOSBox, an x86 emulator with DOS
For my part I think Kobayashi Maru for Bridge Commander is one of the best mods for ST Games around.
Kobayashi Maru
Some other mods:
Future Wars for A2: Star Trek Armada II - Future Wars 1.0 Mod Download, Star Trek: Armada 2 Mods
Future Wars for Sins of a Solar Empire (and I can highly recommend the game itself, no Campign though): Future Wars - Tactical Simulator mod for Sins of a Solar Empire - Mod DB
Star Trek vs. Star Wars for Galactic Civilizations 2 Dread Lords: Star Trek Vs. Star Wars mod for Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords - Mod DB
Haven't tried the last two.
For me Klingon Academy is still one of the best ST games out there but it's impossible to run it properly on most modern PCs.

it seems like the only way to have fun new star trek games, will be with people who mod, just making there own engine, seeing as all other star trek games are old.... and they arnt making any more, man i wish they would make more tho, star trek armada 3!

Star Trek games probably aren't made much anymore because it's infamous for terrible games, more company-made games would probably fit with that unfortunate group.
Who needs Armada 3 when we have Fleet Ops 3?

Uhm, well just my 2 cents but any of the Activision and most of the Interplay era games are pretty to very good. There are Franchises that got far worse games (Terminator, The Matrix, The Simpsons, etc.).
Let's face it: Star Trek isn't as popular as it used to be. Publishers can't pull as much money as from other still breathing franchises liek Star Wars and Lord of the Rings (though this is also gettin unpopular) and won't risk a high investment into such a game. That's why we get mediocore titles at best (for example Legacy).
And don't mention the 11th movie, it was just a good and fun action flick but not "Star Trek"; it didn't revive the old franchise, it started all over in a different way.

Legacy is good, but not out of box. Too glitchy. With a good mod like aftermath, or Trek Battles. it can be a great game.
New worlds is a good game, but its pretty old. I can't really recomend any newer games...Bridge commander is supposed to be good, and Excalibur(not finished yet) looks even better.
Things I would recomend, atm I"m looking at buying Homeworlds 2, and Sins of a Solar Empire, both 3D RTS games, and both seem great. I just got finished playing the Homeworlds 2 demo, and I"m really impresesed. Both these games have some sweet looking mods for Star Trek, Star Wars, BSG, SG1, all sorts of cool stuff.

indeed interplay games were good for their time, one of the best was freespace 1 & 2, real space simulation combat game instead of being treated to autopilot fights on EVE, there is a modding forum for that game and been released as GNU but still, it never got that much attention, its the same for most star trek games. legacy was a pile of crap, im hoping someone can salvage it and make it a really good game.

Just don't make the mistake of hoping that Star Trek: Conquest is decent. It's crap.
