Well with Generations it could have simply been that the Ent-B was NOT the only ship in system, just that it was closest, IE: there were others, but the Ent on it's loop arround the system happend to be closer to the El Aluran ships.

I dunno havent seen it in a while, so I cant remember when they got the distress call.

"We're the only ship in range" I think one of the officers said, meaning that either there were no other ships in the system or there was and they wouldn't get there in time. If it was the latter, they were likely docked and unable to launch fast enough.

Well in the previous movies (IE: Whale probe) the ships @ earth were mentioned, and there only seemed to be a few of them IIRC once was stuck inside of the spacedock, too.

Ships @ earth would mostly be on standdown and shore leave, and if the Enterprise WAS reletivley close to the distress signal, they could respond basicly right away, where even a ship on a decent readiness level would still need to travel there (which would take time)

Then by the time it was over with, no point in rushing ships there.

Of course that raises the obvious question, howcome the el-alurian ships didng just, youknow, dodge the thing.

Obviously because space is 2D and you can only only run in the same direction as the thing chasing you. What fool would try something as absurd as moving up and simply going over or around it?

That's completely unrealistic!

Weren't the El-Aurian trying to get in the Nexus in the first place (nevermind those distress calls)?

No, they were fleeing from the Borg. Only Soren showed any desire to return after being ripped out by the Enterprise.

if they were fleeing from the borg they ran for quite a while cos they ended up near earth lol. they could have stopped running somewhere else in the federation.

She seemed more dazed and unaware of what was happening than begging to be let back, while the later Guinan didn't seem to care much for it at all aside from a few fond memories of what it was like.

i think guinan was too smart for the nexus, she knows not to do super space drugs.
