DS9 had the best stories but the TNG characters were really the best. Picard characterizes Star Trek as a whole for me.  So my ranking: TNG - DS9 - Ent/ TOS - Voy(too many women )

this poll is rigged..........i refuse to believe that more people liked voyagers crew, not even going to get into the show itself, more than DS9.  who voted more than once under different names?

its kind of a quandry for me because i like some crew members depending on which show.

TNG crew was ok but the show itself was mostly a bore fest so it hurt them in the end.  also there is the issue of crew transfers.  worf was on both series and frankly since he didnt change much i like him the same in both series.  sisko was definetely better than princess picard.  but data was way better than Dax.    as for doctors.........bashir and TNGs doctors,  they had two of them, were both boring compared to the EMH from voyager who is the only character i liked from that show.  in the end because sisko is an ass kicker instead of an asskisser like picard and because terry ferrell was HOOOOOOT!!!  :woot:  and frankly so was the chick that replaced her in the last season.  the edge goes to DS9.

...and that's why TNG got the most votes

Hurray for TNG! TNG is my favorite series by 100000000000000000000000000000%. Voyager, ENT, and DS9 were all somewhere in between for me. Some episodes were defiantly better than others and if they combined all of them together, it would be awesome.

I agree with the assessment.

Even if a lot of the stories weren't the best, TNG set the foundation for everything that came afterwards, story wise. The borg, the Klingon (from mindless violent thugs to honorable but opportunistic warriors), the Ferengi (even if they were somewhat more "serious" in TNG), the Cardassians and a lot of other things.

Crew wise, they also established that the interaction among the crew and their evolving relationship was as important as the adventures they endured.

Though I admit that the episodes with the plot "let's screw with X's life" (specially when X was Laforge) started to get a little tiring. But the episode where Piccard was captured by Cardassians and submitted to psychological torture was, in my opinion, one of the best, if quite unsettling. Same with the episode with Ryker. The Piccard episode also hinted for the first time that not everything was as swell in the UFP as we were made to believe.

sisko was definetely better than princess picard.

I just finished watching DS9, Sisko is sometimes not bad but is often very annoying to watch. Sometimes i could not watch because Sisko acts so embarrassing.

Now i started watching TNG. Picard is nothing more than the very best charakter of the whole Star Trek universe (maybe because Patrick Stewart is a better actor than Avery Brooks).

You cannot compare directly Sisko to Piccard. I suggest you compare both to Kirk.

Sisko and Kirk are very similar, but what Kirk did with "elegance" or a "naughty kid" attitude, Sisko would do in a more hands-on, crass way, like the proverbial bull in a porcelain store. Even if Kirk ended without shirt and Sisko didn't. :)

Piccard, on the other hand, has two very definite behaviors: in seasons 1 and 2, he is more of a regulation slave than Sisko and Kirk combined, while from season 3-4 onwards he is more... human... with a Kirk-like style of command. No surprise than Sisko and him don't get along very well.

Or as Q stated to Sisko:

"Piccard would never do that!"
"...I'm not Piccard."

When Sisko punched him.

Also, I'd never call Piccard  a "princess". We are talking about a guy that got his heart replaced after his got badly wounded in a bar brawl.

Picard a princess? Who the heck made that up? Picard was sorta old so not extremely physically tough, but in negotiation and Starship combat, Picard rules. One funny thing though, is that whenever there is trouble Riker says "Red Alert, load torpedoes, and lock phasers on target. Fire on my mark..." but Worf just opens fire anyways shouting, "EAT PHASER ROMUALN HaDD'Soablah!" Well that never happened but, yeah Picard is great. Archer was weird though. He did or didn't do stuff that Picard, Kirk, Sisko, or Janeway would have done. But, Picard is my favorite.

May I point out that you could have only hit Q if he wanted you to hit him in the first place :D

Picard wasn't old, about 70 isn't that old for a Star Trek Human. He is still capable of fighting and even beat a Cardassian Interrogator.

Sisko took him off guard, he didn't let him do that.

And how exactly do you take an omnipotent god-like figure "off guard"?

He wasn't expecting it. The Q are not 'omnipotent', they just seem that way to less advanced races (as said by a Q, Quinn).

I guess then Memory Alpha must have it wrong: "In 2366, Q was stripped of his omnipotence and immortality and transformed into a Human by the Q Continuum as punishment for his irresponsibility."

Tuvok called the Q omnipotent and Quinn corrected him.

As people have said, Memory Alpha is a wiki. Despite being more trustworthy than the others, there are still some that edit the site who can't accept that their personal views are not canon.
