Best Excalibur?
What's your favourite episode? How is romulan ale brewed? - Star Trek in general :-)

It applies because the name Excalibur implies power, lethality, and authority. Something that the Excalibur from the Babylon 5 universe demonstrates when those "main guns" one-shot just about anything. Not to mention its standard armament can do an incredible job on their own. Do you want to know what doesn't wield power and authority?
An unoriginal Star Trek version of e-peen (as DT put it) that all but copies the smaller ship next to it.

A plagerized Constitution class

I find these ships to be about as interesting and original as your average TNG movie.

It's awe inspiring. The design is spectacular, and the power question implies its main weapon must be used judiciously. Same as with any kind of "unlimited" power. You don't get to wield it often, and you better have an excellent reason for doing so. It's a very good metaphor of power and responsibility.Tyler wrote:Isn't that Excalibur the '3-winged Jaffa Staff Weapon'? How does the name apply to a ship that can't even fire its main weapon without killing its own power?
And I'd bet it would open a considerable hole on the side of a Death Star.

"There is the Death Star. Ready the fighters while we scan it and locate the exhaust port."
"Why try to locate the exhaust port when we can make our very own?"
"Good point. Bring the main weapon online."

Tyler, I think you hit the nail on the head.

No, it applies because the excalibur was a handheld weapon, just like a staff weapon, and as Tyler put, the writers just put wings on it.

ps I know that B5 came first, but it was only by a year (talkin about the movies)

I voted Fan Made, only really because I first encountered this one as a Starfleet Command 3 mod (as part of a total conversion). At the time, I figured it was a bit like marmite. I personally find it to be quite alright when viewed from above but I think it looks ugly as sin from the underside. Thankfully I've never played a game which put enough emphasis on it's underside for that to make a difference.
As for the STO one... hmm, it's an ok design but not one that deserves "Excalibur". It reminds me of an Austin Herald for some reason.

I don't know... the Death Star is a little more durable than your average Battlestation...

Since B5 was mentioned, I thought it appropriate to add this here. These videos are very satisfying to me.

The Shadows apparently aren't fans of those Treks...

Can't say I blame them. The best part was when it kills the boom box with that blasted song on there.

I feel it's time to use one of my newly acquired captions:

Oh, and...
