is the golden age of space sci-fi coming to an end ?

Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

star trek enterprise has never caught my interest as well tho I'd like to check it out sooner or later see if it was any good but I think it was a mistake to go back in time with star trek after voyager.

Star Trek Nemesis was REALLY good and I do like the new star trek movie from JJ as well.

If you liked Nemesis you'd probably like Enterprise. At last the last two years of it. The first two were pretty much just a worse version of Voyager.

I don't think it's the abomination that it gets credit for being, just more of the same. Love to see it get picked back up. It was just getting good.

Well, season 4 of Enterprise was great, Star Trek like it has to be. However, I agree that the concept of Enterprise was quite strange right from the start. Damn Hype to make a prequel to everything >:(.
I liked the TNG crew most, it's a shame they had to end with a movie like Nemesis.
Oh, just one additional word to Star Trek 11: with the Narada they brought in the ugliest ship ever in Star Trek(I read countdown and know why it looks like that, it's still nasty) and it came from a species that formerly used one of the most beautiful designs, the D'Deridex.
@Space Marines
Ah, there's the connection . Btw they are working on a Space Marine movie Ultramarines the movie

well we do over here, but, judging from your comment, you're American? xD

Maybe, but it's British troops Americans don't seem concerned about; they're the ones they shoot the most.

I really have trouble following this as I dont know where you're all from :p

But we're moving off topic in huge steps here lol

lol the joke is that american combat troops have killed british troops and british civilians in friendly fire incidents multiple times.

reminds me of a line in GTA san adreas where toreno says "you're not a british tank, you'll be fine" reassuring him (the main character CJ) that the us military's air forces wouldn't shoot him down in his WWII aircraft.

Yeah i always though this strange, they came in loads of ships but when on the ground it was like ww1 in trenches just thousands of people charging at the enemy over and over again and getting killed.

I have a friend who likes the Starship Trooper novel.  He says the movie just wrecked the plot: in the book they weren't wearing f***ing nazi uniforms, and the infantry's power suits were like Starcraft marines, they provided LOTS of protection and allowed them to kill bugs by punching them.

putting guys in suits makes them harder to connect with in a movie. Thats why halo wouldnt work as a movie, as the chief is in armour. if a halo movie ever gets past rumours the main character will have to be someone else.

Starship troopers suffered the common 'guns get stronger' thing in sci fi, but within a movie. Usually it takes a season before the good guys guns get magically stronger, but in starship troopers it happened quicker. By the end they were mowing the bugs down.

Yes and no - the Bugs were the 'baddies', and Skinnies were trying to stay out of the fight, and were forced to ally with both sides on more than one occasion.

Great book - but has no relation to the movies  :sweatdrop:
