I Quit.

If he, like me, insists in using turtling tactics, you might win.

I repeat it to myself like a mantra: "turtling doesn't work against humans". It doesn't matter. As soon as I get control of my faction, I go build turrets.

It'd probably work against me if that makes you feel better, I'm not too great at the whole hit-and-run concept...I can pull it off sometimes, but sometimes I just completely fail  :sweatdrop:

Well, nothing says you have to hit and run all the time.  Back in 3.0.7 when Romulans were still balanced, I'd have my scout see what was headed my way, and have my entire fleet wait for them to come to me.  Then just before they got to my mining, Kapow!  No more badguys. ^-^

So playing defensively isn't a bad thing if you can scout on what your enemy's doing and be at the right spot when they attack.  It means you're closer to your shipyards and probably added an extra ship before the fight.  Just make more ships and not so many turrets and you'll do fine.  Or check yourself into Turrets Anonymous (TA for short).  It's a 12 step program that helps people who can't stop building turrets.  The first step is admitting you have a problem.

It gets worse.

When I play Dominion, I cannot start building ships until I have ALL protos neatly placed around the starbase. And some turrets, of course. May be even one Perimeter or two.

Well, it may be nice to have a blueprint option with magnetic build options. It bothers me the hell out, when I'm trying to set up my stations and ... scratch, it was one pixel too much and I dont have enough room for a second turret near the optimal position for my yards. A magnetic thing would be cool, so that you can be sure, to place your station exactly on the border to the next station without giving up too much room.

And then a setup for a building queue. Like "At first my little constructor, you build this station, and then that, and so on until you are ready..." like in supreme commander. In the meantime, I can expand, build ships, command my fleet, set up tactical and strategical orders so that I can play.

The most time I sit in the base for fine tuning positions, and after I'm done, I see the galaxy full of enemies, because I spend too much time building up my personal paradise. :/

But, once again, I could build fast, rush over a fleet, do pressure and then I could win. I dont understand the reason behind "quit". I wonder, why you people even care... A spoiled brat that is not ready to learn and do other tactics, that might work.

After every loss, there might me something you have taken out of it. You didnt, so you must be very lazy or stubborn.

  Oof ....

So the game starts maybe 20 minutes into it?

Yeah, the "snap to grid" toggle I think it was suggested some time before.

It would reaaaally take a lot of time from those turret place adjustments. And resources when you have to dismantle the badly placed turret and re-place it.

What do you mean with "You can stop the builder before it finishes"? You can do that? Really? Image

EDIT: typo

Of course. They begin building a turret, you see the grid. If it wont match your likings, then you press the abort key. All ressources will be back to you and you have another try, until you get it. But sometimes, I need 3 or 4 tries for some special "pixel-border" stations, like the federation shipyard. This one is really one pixel more --> one grid more. When you make this 2 times, you may have a turret less between them. And this is sometimes a crucial factor.

Holy Crap :woot:  . Don't tell me you actually built all that (you would have to be a figurative billionare), or are you using the map editor? :shifty:

I also assume that's the edge of the map, otherwise you have a rather large hole in your deffense.

Actually, if you have alot of time on your hands, Turtling works really well against the AI. :P

BTW, it was merciless. I just know the AI that well :D  Its easy to win  when you know when they will attack and from what angle .

Oh, but I did use the Map editor to place the probe there.  the AI wasn't that stupid :sweatdrop: Oh, and its not exactly the edge of the map,(more like the bottom and not right up to it.  one of those starbases is my original) but there was no way they would hit me from behind.  Like I said, the AI is predictable.

Yeah. Ph34r d4 p0w4 0f d4 turtl3!

Remember my "Where's Wally?" screen shot? That's how I usually end, with a frigging amount of units flying around in K mode. I keep my shipayrds going at full tilt, even when I don't need to replenish losses.

I know this is just a game, but still.

If it makes any difference you're beating me at STO  :woot:
