Gun Debate
Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

Wow I guess its a sad day when outright racism is just accepted. You worry about the government taking away your right to own guns but they are already taking away your rights, now its people who look different, soon it might be people who think differently. I think i have heard this story once before....

Canada could invade at any moment! I'm keeping my eye on you, cyrax! >:(
I think Clintsat cinched this whole thing pages ago. Besides, a lot of people on this forum actually liked Voyager and Enterprise. How can I enter into a serious discussion with someone if they've already demonstrated that their judgement is off?
But in all seriousness, now we're just getting into mud slinging and taking things out of context. You've really got to ask yourself if you're contributing anything at this point, or just adding more fuel to the fire.

Learn to English.
Racism - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary
rac·ism
noun ˈrā-ˌsi-zəm also -ˌshi-
Definition of RACISM
1
: a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
I expressed NOTHING about the inherent superiority of any race. I personaly think all humans regardless of background are at birth a tabula rasa and inherently equal, however that does not mean that in some circumstances among adults race should not be used.
For example, if in a certain area members of a specific race, appearance, or manner of dress are more likely to commit illegal acts based on statistical data, then yes police SHOULD use that as nessacary, not as probable cause, but as a basic part of their thought process.
But seriously fallout, you need to learn what words mean before you use sling them around.

Tok`ra wrote:On the southern border it's just common sense, as it's a border with a hispanic nation that is currently trying to descend into third world status (and HAS that status in some regions allready) which is also a highway for an almost entirely hispanic continent below it which also is a source of great ammounts of illegal entry into the country as well as drug smuggling.
On the northern border, caucasians should likewise get slightly increased scrutinity due to the same issue. however that should be reduced due to the fact that there are not issues with regular incidents of gunfire coming over the border and striking buildings on the northern border.
To be honest, 95% of this would go away if the border were simply secured, national guard/reserve components of the states on the border for example I think should be left out of the current wars and reassigned to securing the border.
I never said it was wrong or not necessary, it probably is and things would probably improve if we actually protected the boarder. I was just using all that to explain Navyguy's statements to Cmd. Hope.

OI! >:( So what if I like Voyager and Enterprise. Maybe you just need to nitpick less and enjoy the Trek.

It's not so much racism as racial profiling on the part of police, which is a necessary tool, but is easily abused. If there's any "racism" it's a round about, repressed sort of racsim on the part of citizens which stems from the fact that illegal immigrants are getting jobs when the "superior" American citizen isn't. But it's not even outright racism it's closer to resentment and disapproval by a limited segment of the population of hispanics as a whole.

navy, would you please try to speak English. You made about as much sense as an Amish farmer with a ray gun.

Now I have said all that to say this why do you have a problem with people owning a firearm or carrying it in public.
I think this is as good an argument as any:
Dutch gunman used semi-automatic weapon < Dutch news | Expatica The Netherlands
I've been in the military and handled firearms (Uzi, FAL and Glock) and I've also had the displeasure of having to duck for cover because a nut job decided to combine drugs and firearms.
No matter how many regulations you put in place to safeguard private ownership of firearms there will always be nut-cases. Firearms should be reserved to military personnel and law enforcements.
