filefront closing?
Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

Farewell - We are suspending FileFront site operations indefinitely on March 30. Please see the following link for more information: Farewell

their forums seems to be offline already
Regardless of its dramafests on there. I would say they played a pivotal role for armada modding community for many years. A shame really but Im confident a substitute can be found for all things armada modding related.
RIP Filefront?

I posted this in the other thread about this topic (Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - Mod Sites) but I'll post it again here just in case. The A2files staff are working on backing up the mods, and TheStarfleetKid has set up a temporary forum for us all to use in the meantime:
A2 Mod Community Transition Forum

that is very sad. armada2files was the largest supporter of the community. i have great respect that the staff for all the work they have put into this site, especially now, that they are working to create a new independent site independent from a big network like filefront. i guess that has also some good sides. less restrictions for the admins, as they are not bound to any network policy, of course a new modern site design, that can better represent new mods that come out ... and i think a forum dedicated to armada only is not a bad thing either. armadafleetcommand has one, but this site suffers under it's very old design, it's not really fun there to browse the forums.

armada2files is file front? o gee I did not know this.
The staff I am sheer will bounce back, Threes a gap now for modeling could the fleatops forum host some other the mods that doca, optec, and others like?
This would bring good attention and maybe support to the Fleatops project and mission.

There are plans to keep everything online.
We are looking at a number of options (and there are plenty!) but we didn't have any more notice than anybody else so we are still considering the best course of action.

hmm, are you talking about moving all those filies to fleet operations?
hmm that could work, we could host all those other files here, but focues attention on fleet ops, which would boost suport of fleet ops, and would boost players, and the ability to do things faster,
such as the fleet ops team has everyone who can mod, design a new class, to replace....... the intrepid and then they pick the best one
it would also draw attention, and maybye manpower to other mods, to make it more of a community, cus there are alot more mebers on fleet ops, and if we were to combine them........

opportunity is nocking,
This could increases income from advertising and could start some thing new all you would need to do is to duplicate a black copy of the forum as many times as needed and link them to this site and get more monitors/administrators that report to you.
If you have a good enough stricture is will require little work from you.

I am assuming that freyr is the man in charge or has the ear of those how are.
...
Yes it would be a risk, and it could pay off the level one plays the game of life can help crates future, the level one takes risk on is a messier for the posable out comes one has available to them.

i still think fleet ops should see if it can get a contract with a game company, heck, this game has more detail, and better stuff then some new, and with updates that can add new things to the game, it would keep peoples attention longer, this team is good about bugs, and i think with building a game with the new technology out there right now, they could create, Star Trek Fleet Operations, and make it into an award winning game
i mean they have everything they need, a group of supporter(tho its small, thats cus not alot of people find out about fleet operations cus armada 1 and 2 are old)
they also have a great group of testers, yeah thats right,
and hey, with a new game that they create, itll be easier to mod it to what other stuff they want
and think of what they could put in it................ a system of planets, and mercenaries, an awsome glaxy class seperation(lol), better online play, (wed have a whole lot more people to play with) a CAMPAIGN, more races............ itd be great

I very much doubt that this means the end of modding. Most people who frequent the A2Files forums are also members of other ones, so they'll just stick to their favourite alternatives. There are plenty of other sites/forums for them, like AFC (if it has a makeover), Majestic SFC, Altair TaG, The Gaming Union, and many smaller ones.
The only problem will be that when mod teams want to release a mod, there'll be no centralised website for them to release it ON.
