While I have no intention of getting in the middle of this 2-way debate/arguement (which will probably end up with this thread being closed/deleted by the way) I do have a quarm with something you have said Preator.
Calling Kerry sick for his view on the abortion topic while being a catholic is completely uncalled for, not to mention a grossly inaccurate interperation of Catholisism.
That's akin to saying "you cant be gay and be catholic" or "you cant be a femal muslim and not cover you face in public". These are all things that have been added by certain individuals/societies to the religion in order to make it more acceptable for them. They have nothing what-so-ever to do with religion itself, and unfortunately the US is one of those countries who have distorted Catholisism so much that its barely got anything to do with the religion that was started those 2000 years ago.
Societies in general tend to distort religions in their own way, and it is up to individuals to speak up against what they believe is wrong. Religion is basically its set of core beliefs (eg there is a god, jesus did exist etc) and the rest is padding that is supposed to evolve over time to make religion relevent to the current world.
I personally think catholisism is completly outdated, and i have no problem whatsoever in speaking out against various parts of religion that I believe are morally wrong or just not apprpriate for the modern world (ie. Im very angry that the Vatican is trying to sell the idea that condoms dont stop STIs). I applaud Jon Kerry for openly saying that he his catholic and in favour of stem cell research. Its is only with high profile admissions like this that will cause religion to evolve and gain favour with those that are not religious because of these kind of non-fundamental views.
