I'm having some real trouble with Wippien. It keeps randomly disconnecting me. Sometimes it can run for up to an hour without no disconnects, but for the most part itl keep disconnecting over and over repeatedly. I tried reinstalling, and tried a new account, but neither seem to have solved the issue. Sometimes it can outright kill my internet connection and i have to reboot the router. This seems to be a very unstable program...

All I can say Mort is... not good :( . Seems we no longer get VPN for long.  :crybaby:

Zyrious, have you tried making a non wippien account? (jabber.org, gmail etc) Sometimes the wippien accounts have less stability.

Just tried a zyrious@jabber.com account. Seems to be more stable(for the moment atleast), i can actually establish peer connections (the IP's go black. They were staying blue on the wippien account). So i will edit my previous post for this account.

I bet that is mort's problem too, he has a wippien account.

Mort has a jabber account now (and the problem is still occurring unfortunately), and it appears that zyrious's account is still not stable (or at least from what I am seeing) :( . Not at all good.

i know i'm not the most computer literate person, but if wippien has all these problems,  why cant we have our OWN online people linker thing HERE?

just wondering

Well the problem with that is having our own means the Dev team would have to make one and that takes time and lots of effort... and I'm pretty sure they have their hands full with Real life things and working on flops.
Its just a complicated process to make your own software not to mention that you would need your own server and all the things that go with that.

And just to let you know the actual term is Peer To Peer Software not people linker thing.

You mean create a server like gamespy's or wippien? Well, first you would need a team (and therefore much money) to set up and test the connections and make sure nothing goes wrong.... otherwise you might just end up with something worse than Gamespy and Wippien. Second, you'd need a whole sac of dough to get a server of sufficient capability to run (a whole lot of bandwidth is used up in a game - much much more than FO.net gets now). Third, well, you'd need continuing support, a whole lot of dough, and more people to run the show - if I might summarize the first two points  :sweatdrop: . Oh, and even if you did have a server, you wouldn't be able to guarantee that people could connect to it - afterall, that's why we have trouble with Wippien and Gamespy in the first place.  :(

Introducing People Linker Thing, A new VPN that's all the rage with Mac users and people who get lost in their own houses!  Stay connected with friends while at some trendy cafe, or while you bring up your floorplan!  So try People Linker Thing today, the thing that linkers people together, one linker at a time!!! :woot:

You mean "one people at a time" ;)

No, I meant linker.  Each new person is another linker on the chain on the People Linker Thing.  Don't you know anything about technical terms?! ???  You obviously don't hang out at trendy cafes or get lost in your own house, so you're not cool enough to understand. -_-

You are correct, i still get random disconnects, and i am prone to dropping out of games when i actually get into a game with people. Although the dropping out while in a game is probably a result of the fact that while wippien is open, it has a habit of COMPLETELY killing my internet alltogether when it random disconnects (requiring a reboot of the router or waiting several minutes for the internet to restore) which thus disconnects me from the game. Wippien appears to be highly unstable with my connection, and i do not know the cause. Jabber.com is slightly more stable, and can actuallye stablish VPN whereas the wippien account could not, but it is still unstable overall.

I wish i knew what was causing this so i could attempt to formulate a solution. As it is, it appears i may have to stick to singleplayer. Which is highly unfortuanate...
