I just want to say that I thank everyone who gave me a sympathy vote!
I'm surprised I even got votes at all.
Actually Ray, I'm glad I'm not playing. I still get to meet Optec, Doca, and Ziech in a game, and there's no pressure to perform. Like Dominus said, I'll learn more by just watching, since I won't be concentrating on fighting. Being an observer could be fun!

Could you please elaborate? Or is your purpose over here to just start arguments?
The rules were clear from the beginning and because of those rules it will be Zebh and Dom who will get to play and Mal will observe. You put up a fight though, Mal

well you said you would give up your spot if there as a tie, and seeing as there were only 3, and they made good guides, and you seem to know the team and play with them, y not let mal play in the game

you've made a lot of assumptions there with nothing to back them up... The point of a competition is someone has to loose so they can try again next time, in this case, its Mal (though you did post a good thread).
Baron doesn't know the devs, his only ever played the devs once before and that was many years go, so for him this is a rare occurance to and should not have to give up his seat for nothing, he stated at the beginning this is to decide who will be on his team, not who will replace his team...

It wasnt a tie though, was it

And as Mark already said, I only played with the devs once, a very long time ago. So Im very much looking forward to this opportunity again

EDIT: Id also like to add that because not a lot of people voted, saying its only 3 votes between them is not valid IMO. Since Mal got 6 votes, 3 extra votes represent a whooping 50% of his total votes, so you see it wasnt so close

Thanks for rubbing it in, Baron!
Ray, I've already stated that I'm quite happy with observing. Let's avoid another "incedent", shall we? Indeed I did write a good post, but Dom's and Zebh's were certainly more extensive. I'm happy they won. And now I get to see the whole game from both sides and record it!

well i dot get it then, first you say you know the devs, and we assume that you guys play all the time, then you say youve only played once, so y are you then getting to play when you didnt right any guide, and nobody voted for you to play

Look I did not say I know the devs, not even once. But you have to remember that I have been here for a long, long, long time and during that time I have talked to them quite a bit. Posted some ideas here and there, gave balancing suggestiongs and we even talked about every-day stuff from time to time. So if you assume from that, that I play with them all the time is your business, but I have never said any such thing. In fact in the opening post of this competition I already told everyone that I had only played with them once and that I am searching for playing partners for that game (but obviously you didnt read that).
Oh and I did write a guide. But the voting was for MY playing PARTNERS, hope you understand a bit better now

I think you need to go back to school and get an education... You seem to purposely ignore things just so you can say your irrational point of view... You either don't bother reading all of a post or you just choose to ignore what people say in their posts but im going to help you as you don't seem capable of doing it yourself...
to qoute Barons original post for you, which can be found //www.fleetops.net/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,3/topic,4901.0/
he said...

Just a while ago I was talking to Optec about the latest advances in the partial derivate equasion math (:P), when the discussion suddenly turned to FO and we came to consenses that he, and the rest of the team, would have time to play with me and 2 other lucky guys a game of FO in MP!
In this part he states they were just having a general talk, and that they would just about have the time to have one game with him (you jumped to the conclusion he must play with all the time from that, then thats your problem), i speak to Optec online on MSN and i can assure i won't ever be giving him a game, his too busy and so the team.

Since there are 3 of them and only 1 of me I was thinking, who should I invite to join me in a glorious battle against the (real) Founders! And I realized that, because its been a long time since I played FO in MP, I have no idea who should be my playing partner. So I came up with an idea with a "unique" way of choosing my playing partners. A way which would benefit not only me (shit I cant win 3v1, now can I?) but the whole community.
Lately I have noticed that the overall quality of the posts here (there are exceptions!) has gone rather downhill. So my idea of choosing the worthy playing partner is this:
Here he states quite clearly he hasn't played FO online in a while and needs PLAYING PARTNERS and to work who should be HIS PARTNERS he was going to through a competition, for the BENEFIT of the community and himself... ONCE AGAIN, THAT IS PARTNERS... NOT PEOPLE TO TAKE HIS PLACE AS ITS HIS GAME... He decided to do this to try and get post quality up ad get rid of stupid posts like yours and your other numerous threads and onces this one im writing now...

A competition for the best new tutorial for the game!
Let me elaborate, anyone can join in if he has a little free time and some ideas. Basically all you need to do is write a tutorial about a ship/race/general/strategy/map making/etc, you can write describtions of a race, their ships and stations. Basically anything, you think, would be good to know about different aspects of the game. Of course you wont be writing those tutorials in this thread but instead make seperate threads with your tutorial (so we can discuss that as well). All you need to do is post the name of the thread you created in this thread so you will be considered as a potencial partner! Of course you can also make more tutorials, but only the best one can be submitted
You have untill the end of Sunday 26.4.2009 (24.00 CET) to create your threads.
When all the competetors will be known I will create a new thread with a poll, so you all can voice your opinion on who should win, based on the quality of their threads. The winners will be named on Saturday 2.5.2009 00.00 CET. We will then discuss the gametime with the winners (it will probably be on Sunday evening CET)
and that would be where he clearly state the rules for this competition that he was throwing to FIND PLAYING PARTNERS... which was you could of created anything to basically be in for joining match, anything at all that benefited the FO community in some way and seeing as i cna make a fairly decent map in an hour you don't really have an excuse and also you obviously didnt bother to read how this competition truly came in to existance in the first place.... now i suggest you start reading peoples posts Ray320 or just shut up and don't comment on things you don't understand if you plan on insulting them, if you don't understand ask but all your posts come accross insulting so that what i gave you back, only i confirm mine with facts...
IF Baron wanted to he could of just choose me and Dominus to play but he wanted to get the quality up and to be fair even with all this rubbish it has worked, loads of guides have been showing up and a stratergy section has been born...

As promised, thanx to Mal, we have a recording of our game vs the devs. The game lasted about 30min but the first 10min are missing, thanx to Mal again
, though the recording starts just its started to get fun
The file is massive though, 4GB and I have posted a torrent of the file in this post. I will be seeding the file and it should be fine as my upload is large enough but dont get angry if it slows down a bit, if more of you will be downloading I might reach my limit
There is a snag, Ill be leaving tommorow so I wont be able to seed after tommorow, hopefully more of you will have the file by than and it wont be a problem
So get downloading guys!
If you do not know what bittorrent it, you can get all the info here : http://www.bittorrent.com/
EDIT: Since it doesnt say anywhere: I was dark green color - Borg, Dominus Noctis was white color - Romulan, Zebh was purple color - Dominion, Optec was light green color - Romulan, Doca Cola (DC) was red color - Klingon and Detektor was orange color - Federation.
In case your wondering what happened at the end, DC quit (eventhough they could still have won
, seeing how many ships Detektor had
) and we all crashed and thats why everyone was unresponsive, a rather sad ending to the game
