Oh and what point am I not anwsering, I thought I cleared all the points in the different paragraphs. But please do tell, directly (in 1 sentance) what you want to know and Ill gladly anwser it.
Forgot to ask the question, havent we?
that's exactly my point.
But you were seeking partners to play with the mods....and that was the attraction. not u,but the mods.
I can see where we seem to be speaking at cross purposes.
You feel this was about you. I and many others felt this was about the competition and improving FO.
Yep they were the attraction, but they are still my playing partners

They might have entered to play the mods, but I (yes its me!) set up the competition to get MY (its me again!) playing partners and if you and others would actually bothered to READ the describtion of the competition you would already know that.
fyi - we aren't whining...in fact we have succeeded in demonstrating the true nature of the poster and the competition itself to the entire community (mods included)...nothing to "deal" with m8...we arent as puerile in egocentricity Wink
The true nature was there for everyone to see in the original post, so congrats on reinventing the wheel
Just 1 more PS: You seem to like to argue serpicius, I have seen this other places as well. If your arguing your a happy camper, so why would I want to feed that addiction. If you can not comprehend what I am saying to you or what I was trying to do, then you just wont ever get it and this will last forever, kind of like the religion thread. So yeah, this is my last post, congrats on politely insulting me when you got the chance

I actually agree with serpicus.
The only people that submitted anything already plans to do so. These plans didn't have anything to do with the competition, just to help out those in the community. Even mal had told me he was already planning to do a guide. The Deadline was so short in fact that he didn't even have time to finish it. So he put out what he had.
I personally don't have a problem with the competition it self, only like serp said the arbitrarily made rulz.
I hope you don't take all this personally, it is just the once in a lifetime opportunity if you have time to write thing really messed the game up.

Look guys, Im not going to repeat myself. Serpicius and ray can read my reply in the winner poll thread.
Because of Doms and Zebhs post Im going to say this: The competition did what my intention was, provide a sufficient "want" factor that made them finish their work. Its unlucky that more people didnt join, but it is what it is and we got 3 great posts because of it Tongue
*snip
Oh and btw it is not a competition if you are just lucky to have already had a guide in the works.
The thread title was just made that way so it would be more interesting to people.
I should disqualify all the people that were thinking on creating a guide huh? Look, its ok. U2 are right and Im wrong, happy now? Lets get this to rest

that was not what was said.
Please try to understand what is being said.. you may want to read more carefully without the attitude clouding basic human reason....
the winner deserves his spot to play with teh mods... he earned it.

Mal will play if that happens
Honestly, I probably can learn more by watching anyway.

yeah. not so much a hoot as you.. with your rigged competitions.
as far as Im concerned Zebh, dom and Mal did do a good job, and they should not be penalized for incompetent and egotistical organization.
so dont try to cover up your inadequacies by penalizing them.
Cheers to you.

With the mess this has become, you should have just picked your own partners.
It would have made redmanmark86 happy (* ducks to avoid the onslaught of nasty remarks*)

posted on April 28th, 2009, 6:55 pm
that would have been fine at the outset....in fact with his intentions as stated now, he should have done just that.

Actually, part of the attraction for me was to play with Baron against the mods. I have a lot of respect for Baron. I'm kind of becoming "the Dominion guy", since I play them a lot, but Baron's the old school Dominion player. One of these days if he comes back and plays more online, you'll probably find us talking shop on a class nobody plays. So I can honestly say that I was just as interested in meeting and playing along side him as I was the Optec, Doca, and Zeich (I'm assuming Zeich's the 3rd player.)
Actually, what I wrote for the competition was started within that week. I was in the process of writing other things that I could have finished up and submitted, but what I chose was actually written on Saturday and Sunday, with notes written during the week.
The week of this competition was probably the busiest week of my life. Several midterms, quizzes, a lab report, plus the usual homework. I played some games on Friday and Saturday to relax a bit. Then on Sunday, I had to drive several hours back to my hometown, because my brother was leaving for a different part of the country, and we ended up having a goodbye lunch with him. Plus I'm 7 hours behind CET, so I actually only had until 5:00 P.M. to finish. But I still submitted something. And the actual post was right on time! The link took a few minutes, though.
What I'm saying is that if someone like me who probably had one of the busiest schedules could post something, then anyone could have.
It wasn't puerile or egotistical of Baron, he just wanted to improve forum quality. Dominus and I make posts like this frequently, but the competition was supposed to be an incentive to also encourage people who don't post a lot to maybe come out of the woodwork. I mean, zebh's new to the forums, and look at what he did! His contribution is pretty amazing!
That's the kind of thing that this competition was supposed to do. Am I the only one who was suprised that there were only 3 entries? I guess this is just a reminder that no good deed goes unpunished.

I can't believe this ...something... that I have been reading on both threads of this subject.
The idea was originally to be constructive for the community. And I can't believe that there has been succeeded to create a mess out of this what should have been constructive. I almost regret that I published my guide and took part in this competition. But Baron was 100% right about that this competition provided a sufficient "want" factor to me to finish and publish my guide. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have published it for a loooong time.
Now you have made me feel that my work has created a huge arguing and been more disruptive than constructive.
If this argument doesn't stop I can't see any other alternative than to quit this competition. I am really sorry that this what was meant to be constructive turned to this.

Look, without mincing words on so irrelevant a topic, no one is arguing with whether mal or zebh or even dom did a good job to improve the forums.
no one is disputing that the thread was assumed by all of us to be for the greater good of the forum.
However, the entire approach by 3 specific members who hijacked the thread and in every post attacked members who were asking for more time to contribute was what IS problematic.
Do not try to play the holy virgin mary here. The entire demeanor of those 3 specific individuals is the root of my contention.
You will notice that I have not spoken a word as long as thsi competition was on, as it never interested me.
but I have been watching the fun.. and it appears that these 3 members seem to fancy themselves to the extent that they use every post to attack what seems not to suit their egocentric points of view, and have the temerity to express outrage when other members are merely facetious with them.
It is that specific attitude problem that I find to be problematic.
so please leave the clichés for the university term papers.Read the complete context of the entire competition before claiming "good deeds that go punished" or Mary Queen of Scott's "abdication of my place".
