This is so cool!
So you mention the saber is buildable from both yards as a 'baseline" vessel. Is this the same make of saber? Or are there offensive/defensive sabers and some sort of refitted support saber?

all factions get major changes, but not their complete faction redos, as we have a lot of new features in the box for each faction which require a bit additional time
yet it is necessary to do the major changes to all factions at the same time, as its impossible to get a good balancing with just half the factions converted
Nope, all the sabers are the same type of vessel: the allround profile.

Can't wait to try this one out. looks like lots of thought went into the new gameplay. That certainly is worth the wait. But there's something that burns so deeply insight of me I can't hold it.
What about a new race to add FO up again on 6 races, namley the Noxter? All races seem to have been redone at least twice since the Noxters were pulled out of the game. Could we at least have random Noxter nests as map objects to creep or so?
The last concept arts were incredible.

The news are so epic, even The Black Baron returns from the dead (to avenge his tactical Cube I blew up with the intelligence center almost two years ago)
It's great to have two basic yards available. Either do the support-stuff first or do the brute-force thing to start off. Cooooooool (we will see more canaverals)

With 2 basic yards acting as a cover for all early-mid game stuff, does that mean warpin has been moved to a later spot in the tech tree?

These posts are going to be weekly? On one hand, that amounts to a lot of posts... on the other hand, I'm not sure how I'll survive six the six days of anticipation between them.

Awesomeness.
I am very excited for a new change up in favourite AI setups against multi feds.
Hope Klingons get a few neat tricks too, as I'm sure they will.
And um, I feel like its some what rhetorical to ask as it might be obvious, but in the one part of your post, you wrote how you can go for antares yard with all around vessels, and their follow-up bonuses - so leads to my question. At obvious first glance, I would say follow up bonuses means specials... but since all this stuff is undergoing changes with this patch, does follow up bonus mean research specials, or does follow up bonus mean a follow up bonus like a new bonus feature?
and more straightforward:
So is the Eraudi yard swapping remore for akira?
For Mayson, where do nova and norway fit? edit: i mean I know you stated avatar units ignored.. but now I'm curious. because norway would be more support and new yard then yes? where as nova might still be in antares?
Edit: For federation, considering the chassis levels, I think it would be really interesting if the new yard was split over all three. I.e. canaveral after level 1, remote after level 2, and "locked new ship' under level 3 chassis.
By building the support yard, you could gain access to all chassis levels, and not need to devote resources into eraudi, although the ship selection would be very limited in selection. If this final support ship were worth it, and made to level 3 chassis, might be a resource saver without eraudi, encouraging level three chassis for its special and it to be built. With level 1 and 2 chassis still at antares, and chassis 2 and 3 in eraudi.

The chassis system is being phased out in the next version, for "something more interesting", I believe Optec said.

Great news post guys.
I sure hope not, I rather see a new and unique design rather than a rip off of a Trek classic.

i like the m2 design, but i think it should stay as a rare awesome ship, it really is useful for the money.

i for one am insulted by this,
you have some nerve calling an original upgrade design a rip off.
Personaly i like the MII better than the MI, so majestic please think about how others feel before you post somthing
derogitory such as this.
And btw, i don't think that ship would be the miranda II, one if it was why wouldn't they show it, two the miranda II is a fed/dominion element ship, and 3 its not a support ship either.
