I know it is meant for windows 7, but it is about a direct X 7 compatibility tweak nvidia introduced for newer cards. (called PRE_D3D9_COMPATIBILITY_BITS )
it might just work on xp too? or did you already try?
btw,
in nvidia inspector you can tweak all gfx settings like manually selecting which AA method to use.
maybe one of the other settings will help solve the problem.

oh and if you don't want to use inspector, just try copying the armada.exe and rename the copy to FalconAF.exe, and run the renamed file.

I could play A1 on XP as well till a few months ago. New gfx card (Nvidia) since the old one fried. With it came a new version of directX though and ever since i haven't been able to play A1 properly.

Tried playing with hardware acceleration as some forums suggest, tried the nvidia inspector as previously suggested but all to no effect.

I have one question, do Millenium Project and other mods work with your patch?

I don't see why not.

the patch is compatible with all modifications for armada 1.

Out of curiosity, how was reverse engineering the woninterface.dll made possible? Did you decompile the library or obtain the source through another channel/means?

the interface dll has been written from scratch. the won interface is obsolete and has been shut down a few years ago. so it isn't required to recreate the won server interaction with it :)
nice, your first post since you registered in 2006

The FleetOps retention level is high ;) I may not be posting, but I'm watching, playing and admiring. Congratulations for all you have achieved with this project - there's a lot to be proud of here. Interesting that you worked from the ground up - how did you set about completely re-writing - there doesn't seem to be a lot to get going with...?

of course some things required debugging before such a replacement dll could be written, but that all is nothing too fancy from the programmer's perspektive

I've seen a few pics of it, it looks terrific. Nice work
Unfortunately, I can't download it since I seem to have lost my A1 game :(

Thank you so much.
You saved me from total boredom with this.

Edit:
It runs surprisingly stable however there are 2 annoying bugs

- no sound during cut scenes and unit feedback
All sound files are in place though

- screen flickers like mad at start and between cut scenes
is there a way to run it windowed?
posted on October 1st, 2011, 9:12 am
yes, these are the common armada 1 bugs.
windowed mode is possible. try to run it with /win command line parameter
