Here are some screenshots of the base in-game.  The smoothing isn't correct.  The only thing that is supposed to be smoothed is the transwarp ring, and only the inner and outer edges.  Not the top or bottom of the ring.  Well, the top of the ring should be smoothed only where it connects to the rest of the starbase.  But other than a couple places, nothing should be smoothed.  How do I "un-smooth" the areas I don't want to be smoothed?

Since I can't seem to fix this smoothing problem.  And since no one seems to care to tell me how to fix this smoothing problem.  This project is cancelled!

I'm willing to bet that the information you are searching for can be found in the forums for the tools you are using, and probably in the BBoM as well.

You may also want to look at resources and documentation specifically about the modelling package you are using, either those supplied by the creator or otherwise.

I think that if you don't want an edge smoothed, you need to have the different sides that meet to form the edge be in different mesh groups.

Thanks for the tips.  If I have different mesh groups, won't I have to have different hardpoints with the "m_" prefix?

I have resumed progress on this mod.  However, it is no longer a priority as I have other projects that I would like to get done quickly (too many projects).

I want my mining station to mine the resource instead of the mining freighter.  What code might accomplish this?

hmmm, I"m actually not sure.  I don't even know if its possible to do it with orbital mining stations.

An Idea I had though, what if you did it like a regular mining station that launched a miner, but remove the miners physics.  that way, it stays in place, mines through the station, and just deposits them there.  I don't know if it will work though, just an idea.

Maybe you could just give it a resource collection rate and it fire a mining beam at the moon that does nothing.

that could work too. :sweatdrop:

as far as i know only the orbital station can do this but i have never had it working on a dilithium moon before

I can do an orbital station.  I know how to modify the resources to allow one.  If you want, I could probably put an orbital station around a nebula even though that the nebula has negligible gravity.

A moon wouldn't have negligible gravity though.

i have tried to make the moons to allow them but for some reason i've never been able to build them there (not sure if they need to be classed as planets) but that is the only way a resource collector can also process the resources

You can say it uses a tractor beam to hold itself in place, or just has engines.
