Thats your idea of balanced make it cost one more warpin slot, triple the phaser damage, and 6 times more torp damage as compared to a descent???? Thats only 10 points of phaser damage less than a DPS cube, and would have similar to a DPS cube torp damage. That cube costs close to 4000-5000 di and 800-1000 tri. And you think that its balanced to give a player that for only 5 warpin slots???????????????

Yeah, the Century is only about 15% stronger than a sovvie as far as sheilds and weapons goes.

If it's THAT overpowed, then forgive me.  I am not familior with how much damage each vessels weapons do.  And I thought that torpedoes generally did 2-5 times more damage that the phasers depending on the torpedo type.

But I still want it to have multi-layer shielding.  We can simulate this by doubling the strength of the shield and dampening the weapons firepower to the vessel slightly.  On officer rank, just make the shields regenerative.

Okay, so now that I have a more general idea on what's going on, I think I'll have the chroniton torpedo do 45 damage as it's base instead of 150.  That should be more reasonable.  I sure hope the damageMode command is multi-lined.

Hey, just got the ok from k_merse, so we are good for the mod.  I will release the textures real soon, and will add glows to the higher poly model, because FO won't have any problem with it. :thumbsup:  Hows that sound?

Can you also create the interface stuff for the vessel as well?  Such as build buttons and the interface icons when the vessel is selected or building?  And can you make sure to keep the poly-count around 3,500 polygons or less if possible?  I can't wait to see your textures and models.

I'll create the new ODF files for the ship and it's weapons.  I'll do my best to make sure that the ship is not overpowered, but not underpowered either.




Should the vessel be buildable and be able to be warped-in?  Or should it be one or the other?

If warped-in should it come in with the standard warp-in, or as a special warp-in?

Should the chroniton launcher refit be for the warp-in version only, the buildable version only, or both?  I'm leaning towards the buildable version only.




After a close look at the weapons of the Sovereign and Descent, I'm pretty confident on how much firepower to give the Century to make sure it's not underpowered or overpowered.  I'm also pretty confident on how many Veteran slots it should take up.

The chroniton torpedo I'll be able to do.  Oh, and when you make the sprite file, make sure you make a copy that only has your modifications and not the original with the modifications.  Leave lots of comments in the sprite files as well.  I'll do the same with my the chroniton weapons.

I think it's time to move this to the Mods in Progress forum section.

Let me answer this :)

1. Editing model is out of question. She was my firstborn and I'm planning to rework her very soon, as I'm a better modder now. Maybe I'm a bit selfish  :lol: Anyway, I'll release a new model within a few months, but I think I won't change much the textures, so you'll be able to use them to the new model as well.

2. My opinion is that you should decide: Make it warpin and make it stronger, or make it buildable, but weaker. Why would you pay for a ship if you can get it for free by warpin? And if warpin, then she should be a general ship as she's the sister-class of the Sovereign.

3. Be aware that the concept of the Century was to return to the original multi-role purpose, so it should be weaker in torpedoes, but a bit stronger in phasers and much stronger in shields than the Sovy ;)

Okay.  I'll wait for the model then.  Can't wait to see it with the textures in.

For the warp-in/buildable versions, I think I'll make both, but only have the warp-in active.  I would like to integrate it into the buildable warp-ins mod though.

For the weapons and shielding systems, well, is it okay if I make a chroniton launcher refit version for the ship or maybe make it as a temporary ability?  Also, what do you think of the officer rank gaining regenerative shielding with officer rank gaining light quantum pulse and/or transwarp?  Or should I save one or more of those for the "hero ship" version?

Also, what about the specials you want it to have?  Special energy regenerator?  Something else?

Sure, I"ll make the buttons and wireframes, ect.  If you could make tooltips, that is the one part I don't enjoy doing. :D  So, you are gonna make odf's and tooltips, and I"ll edit textures, add glows, and do the sprite entries(BB's Wfs, Si's, ect.)  most of which I am already done with. :thumbsup:  Sound good?

As to balencing, I think it would be more of a diplomatic ship than a full battleship, and as k said, it should be regular warpin with an average defencive special.  I think it should have a photon burst(2 to 3 shot)  and at higher rank turn into 4 burst, and then quantum burst.  Phasers should be like the avalon's I think.

Just my take :blush:   

Edit: Oh, and the higher poly model is around 3,000 so we are still in your area. :thumbsup:

Deal.  I'll do the ODFs and tooltips.  It'll be a warp-in vessel.  By the way, once the model is done, may I have a look at it in MS3D so I can accurately designate the hardpoints to each subsystem, and the hull and weapons?

By photon bursts, do you mean something like pulse phasers?

Cool, so here is a little update.  I have just finished the glows on the model. (nearly 30 of them:whistling:)  I just need to work out some things with the textures and I"ll post them up for you. :thumbsup:

Edit: ok, so I need to fix a couple of things with t he glows too. :sweatdrop:  I"ll update asap.

Alright, fixed.  I"ll leave the old pic up so you can see the difference. :sweatdrop:
