thats very true, im happy that although they fall along the wayside in terms of power. i can still have them...i like the older ships and intend on maintaining a fleet of them, regardless of how outgunned they are.

just wondering, what all goes into converting legacy ships to fleet ops? i have a feeling im going to either have to learn how or pay someone to get my promellian battlecruiser

It's good to see you can only upgrade ships so far till they become too old to be upgraded anymore.

:D I personally like EE better too.

You'll be happy then. As you may know, Klingons and the Federation kept a mothball fleet of their older ships for crisis times - like the Dominion War. Sooo that means that Feds will keep their warpin option, but instead of special ships, you'll be able to call ships from the mothball fleet. Of course these ships will be relatively weak. They won't get any hull or extensive shielding enhancements (so their shields and HP will be low) and they won't get the most up-to-date weapons either. They are old barques after all and there is no time and money to fully upgrade them.
Of course not every ship will be available from mothball. You won't get ships which are still in service (even if they are considered obsolete) and certain classes won't worth the effort to reactivate after a while, so you won't get Daedaluses or Constitutions in the Dominion War.

Converting Legacy models is a real pain because you have to contact the original author and beg him to give you his 3DSM or MS3D model file because there is no importer for M3D files. And if he doesn't have the file any more, you won't be able to convert the model - only to build one by yourself, but in the most cases it doesn't worth the effort...

well that sounds good, im looking forward to playing it, i'll still be able to build the old stuff though right? or do certain ships get replaced on the build list?

im starting to think that warp in shouldent be a fed only ability. everyone should get either a warp in or a cloak in, then a race specific ability on top of that.

for the legacy thing, i dont even have milkshape, so i guess i'll be paying to have someone convert it.

are you switching over to the new fleet ops system or is this going to stay as a pre 3.2.3 mod?

God help me then :P

Answering to JR's question: You're either be able to build a ship or retrieve from mothball. But after some time, every ship becomes absolutely obsolete and has to completely retire from service. And no, you won't be able to build anything obsolete, like TOS Connie in TMP, or any Connie at all in the Dominion War.

Klingons will have mothball too, but the others won't. I'm still thinking about to make certain "special" ships available by warpin and this still can affect every race. So even the Rommies could get warpin, but they won't have mothball.
