It was tiny, and was deployed at the destruction of the cube.  Isn't that what escape pods do? And it was destroyed in only a couple hits.  Even without shields, it would have lasted longer than it did.

And how many Sphere's have you seen hit by a spread of Quantums before? Enterprise was damaged by the vortex and nothing implied that the Borg Vessel was any different.

The Sphere was estimated (by it's wreckage) as being '600 meters in diameter' - So it's so small it dwarfs most Starfleet ships and nearly rivals a Galaxy Class?

Remember that the Borg do everything big. The Probe that Voyager engaged was its equivalent size... and it was a Probe afterall  ^-^

The Spheres from 'Endgame' and 'Child's Play' were about 2-3 times Voyager's size, she is just under 350 meters. Were they escape pods?

I guess it depends where you look. According to Memory Alpha (oh the irony)... "The official size comparison chart from Star Trek: First Contact defined the size of the vessel as being 1500 feet (457 m) in diameter, however, according to the size of the debris field, as referenced in "Regeneration", the radius was calculated at "about 600 meters in diameter.""

And of course, 2-3 times the size of a 345m Voyager is still much larger than 600 M. In the end, we can only speculate, as this is based off a movie and a seperate TV show

That's the trouble with shows, they are rarely consistant.

Indeed. So that is why I prefer to leave the handling of this to the FO Team first (which they have done) and group satisfaction with the way the factions handle in this RTS. I don't think I'd be too far off to say that most people are pleased with the power each unit in the Borg armory has.

I was mainly curious about where the 'Escape Pod' theory came from.

So I suppose We can assume it isn't, but how many cubes have you seen with the big hole in the side?  I would say the cube, and the sphere were special.  I mean, come on, the queen was on board.

The Queen was previously shown using a Diamond Class (though, that was a different Queen), and how often have you had a chance to examine all sides of a Cube to look for a door?

Considerering the size and power of a Cube, the idea of using a full Starship the way others use Shuttlecraft wouldn't really be that strange.

if i remember correctly in the voyager episode dark frontier didnt the borg queen mention the shields were failing to 7 of 9 when they were assimilating that minor races planet?

The queen was also present in some form at wolf 359, based on what jean-luc said in FC, although that may have just been the collective consciousness.

I tend to agree. Prob. some sort of command cube. Where the Sphere was the Queens Yaught.

I know! the sphere that crashed on earth was an escape pod for the bigger sphere! ;) :D

A 600m wide escape-pod? People are arguing that the crashed sphere is as big as the spheres in voyagers.
