Nope, I set a B'rel (since it had the biomatter code) to give 500 metal on rank up.  I had 0 metal in the editor before rank up, and 500 after   The other resources were unaffected.

Gonna have to play with this now.  I'm thinking each rank could give 1 metal, and then a normal warpin request would cost something around 10-20.  Special warpins or specific requests would cost more.  Balancing would be easy through increaseing the cost, or only giving the resources for gaining higher ranks.

This would be even better if there was a way to tie it directly to experience rather than just ranking up.  Then veteran ships could still contribute...

I know the Borg are using metal, but that shouldn't stop the Feds (or others) from using it too.  I was just thinking that trade is still on the horizon, so purposes may already be slated for it.

IIt means that it will be called collective connections for feds though.  Names are global.

and one for each rankup is kind of sad.  For that cost I would do 2 for rank 2 4 for rank 3, etc.

How about assigning each Fed-Ship/Building a value? If it dies/is destroyed, FedConnections are gained, depending on ship/building class.
Also building civil buildings for increased fed-point accumulation. Would make nice additional targets for raiders.

That would need balance, though. Sacrificing ships shouldn't be an alternative to paying directly into the FedConnectpool.

Yeah, I don't think you should get credits for blowing up your ships or enemy ships.  it is not the fed way.

But this is going beyond the scope of the mod.  The idea of this mod was not to completely rebalance Warpin, but to be an alternative to those who want to build all the warpin ships.  The idea actually balances itself by giving you a huge time delay for getting a single ship, and allowing you to only get one ship at a time.  It makes the regular warpin still useful, while still being useful itself.  It also helps get rid of that third button the teutoburg created,(though I"m not entirely sure a module menu can appear from a point there on the main menu or if it has to come from the build menu)
